The factory aristo 2jz is going to be adequite for what I want really. It's going to be capable of running the engine a-ok..

    hmmm...

waiting for Mr-Punnany and yojimbo to chime in :D

I reckon if the subframe is the same, buy an IS200, an aristo half cut, some IS300 engine mounts/brackets from Toyota. Youll come out eleventy times in front $ wise. Im yet to see a GE turbo conversion job that doesnt look like arse and is done in any way that they wouldnt have been better off starting with the GTE.

RE: Fuel gauge. The gauge itself will be electric and work on a simple signal, likely just has some separate ECU that works on adjusting the ground voltage output to the gauge depending on its multiple stupid inputs. Just pull the cluster and hook it up to an adjustable power supply, see what voltage is needed to show full level and empty....if it does work like that youll be able to just hook it up directly to the sender and add a suitable resistor to correct the signal if necessary.

Ed's right, these are no budget build.

I have Haltech e11v2 piggy backed to run what it needs. All other factory ecu's are in place and running.

Stock fuel system is a major headfuck - fuel reg is in tank with a high pressure lines to the rail, no return.

Stock is300 mounts will get you out of trouble, but they are $$$. I have an aristo motor with a notched sump.

Ive given up counting what Ive spent, but I do love it.
They are a very cool thing once running well, I dont mean to brag but I think mine might be one of the more powerful AND the MOST RELIABLE ones I have seen. Everyone else seems to have heat / cooling / electrical / half assed mods trouble, and spends a lot of time in the workshop. I drive mine a couple of times a week to work or the gym, with only a quick prep for trackdays etc. Its done over 10,000k's with over 500rwhp with nothing more than basic maintenance on a stock unopened motor. Its all coming apart for check up this summer (head service, clutch rebuild, rings / bearings, inspection etc).

Started out stealth but it has become less so, twin plate clutch and 3.5 inch exhaust give it away as soon as you can hear it, barking and rattling.

post 19 in this thread talks about the weird fuel sender..

doesn't sound too bad, just needs some tinkering.

Whats the headfuck? If theres a couple lines running to the engine you could easily fix that though. Just ditch the old shit and chuck a bosche in the tank.

The IS300 engine is a vvt 2JZ so uses an air mass meter which gives no fark what manifold pressure is.

You are dreaming if you think you can just smash an Aristo 2JZ in it and live happily ever after. Not to mention the fact that it is 10 years too old for the car.

doesnt matter how old the motor is, just matters what adr it falls under.

I used the old HP line as a return, run my own -8 line forward with 2 walbros in the tank. Sounds simple but took a disproportionate amount of time and money to get right.

Easiest (also spendiest) is to get a billet fuel pump hanger from the US for about 450$, solves a lot of issues, including the venturi that sucks fuel from one side of the saddle tank to the other.
Thats said you still havent bought lines, pumps or filters for that cash - it ends up being expensive to put something quality together.
Not like most other jap imports where you can just chuck a walbro in the tank and leave everything else.

LOTS of the issues you read about on forums with difficulties are myths blown out of proportion by total numpties who try to modify these.

The altezza community are all nice guys, but mostly interested in neons/ICE or alternatively extreme handling - insisting they can tell the difference between the TRD and cusco swaybars on the road etc. Actual modification is not in thier vocab.

Great handling car, needs more poke.

Lots of little things, suggest you look up Brad Bedell's supercharged VVTi 1UZ IS300 Sports Cross conversion. Has the fixes for quite a few little things. The main problem is the BEANS system - lots of computers chatting to each other that need a particular signal otherwise it will misread or not work.

Seen that build thread, the Sportcross/Altezza Gita are pretty hot looking wagons, yet another worthy car that we dont and cant get here.....

where is the place to get a jz front sump (incl baffle and pickup)? is there a particular importer that brings heaps over? is there a particular forum that always has them in the for sale section?

                          thanks

Is it $350 for a whole 1JZ or for a 1JZ front sump.
