                      And that's base spec an optioned 135i runs about $100K right now. Still pretty tweakabled compared to an M3 for less money.

                        Half RRP is taxes? Bullshit. That means 100% tax on the car which simply ain't so. That said we do have pretty high taxes and get proper screwed on cars here.

                        $55k odd for an M3 in the US at our current rate... I know I'd be driving one there.

                          We do? What are the taxes on cars at the moment?

                          Import duty (5-10%), GST (10%), LCT on posh cars.

                              33% LCT on the GST inclusive value of cars worth more than $57 466.

                              Also don't forget that when you compare prices to cars overseas they already have profit margin on them, so the profit margin is apparently double here.
