Mitsubishi V6 is easy if you use a triton rwd one. Rodeo V6 is light and compact and has all the efi gear on the motor itself but eats inlet manifold gaskets.
Suzuki V6 would be the best power to weight but commo Would be the cheapest conversion by far.
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

VG20DET out of a Gloria/Cedric? Fits the bill of being small :D and their slant is tiny. The problem is they have the same head gasket problem as a VG30

Is there some way to hybrid the car-motor feel of a 380 or Magna engine with the RWD fitment of the Triton engine?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

So what head gasket problems does the VG30DE have? Too heavy anyway, that Suzi donk looks neat but what about a gearbox? The small Mazda V6?
They overheat blow the head gasket and suck in water. The other half of it is probably the fact that there in such a cramped space in a Z32. I don't profess to be an expert, but there's not to many people I've spoken to that have been around Zeds that rate them much at all.

Triton/challenger is the same engine as magna but with different inlet and water hoses and shit. You could buy a popped triton motor and swap the bits onto a magna long motor I'm sure.

My guess, then, is that the unembiggened power is probably just camshafts/tune, tre trucky sound is exhaust, and the NVH is probably just engine-mounts (flywheel? missing balance countershafts?)? If so, you'd be likely to be fiddling that stuff, or getting the same end-result, even if you did put a completely "car" engine into the likes of a Corolla ... ?

Pretty much spot on.
Block is the same between Magnas and Pajeros/Tritons etc. The early Pajeros have the 12v 6g72 out of the 2nd gen magna, with the newer pajeros having the 24v 6g74 out of the 3rd gen magnas. There was also a DOHC model in the pajeros life, but it is shit.
Few blokes buy magna short block and throw their Pajero heads, and upper gear on them, ends up being a much cheaper replacement engine compared to a straight Pajero motor. Theres plenty of info on this on the Pajero forums.
Cant really see any issues running a magna block if your willing to use some parts out of the Pajero/Triton etc to make it RWD. That said a 6g75 isnt much different in terms of the block, and the Magna (and I assume pajero) heads can be bolted onto them. Benefit is youll get massive compression. Last idea is just to run a 6g75 (380) block. Plenty of power is possible out of those engines. 200rwkw is just a tune, and cam change away.
newest holden v6 you can find at the wreckers for cheap, if its just a daily why bother fucking around with expensive/obscure engine conversions, there wont be any resale if you swap the motor over so might as well do it on the cheap. And for what it is, the holden v6 isnt the biggest peice of shit ever, vaugly fuel efficient and will go for fucking ever just changing consumables.
