PEople who went in an wanted a car with no options got them rather quickly from the first batch.
If you order xenons, audio upgrade, leather then you had to wait.

That's why I told my mate who was considering a Polo GTI to go with a Golf GTI, you can get them easier and they will negotiate on price enough that they are Polo GTI price anyway.
Same story with the base models, I was gonna get a 77TSI for the mrs to drive around but the pricing is so ridiculously tight that I ended up with a 103TDI Golf for only 2k more.

You can negotiate $40k down to near $28k?Originally posted by [ryan] View PostThat's why I told my mate who was considering a Polo GTI to go with a Golf GTI, you can get them easier and they will negotiate on price enough that they are Polo GTI price anyway.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

A list price is a list price, if it's got aircon & cruise control then all other options are wankery anyway. And onroads for a $27790 3dr Polo GTI can't cost more than for a heavier larger-engined $41490 3dr Golf GTI mit the same slushbox - apart from discount & negotiation. Knocking anything near 1/3 or $14k off even a Falcodore would be an epic effort!Originally posted by [ryan] View PostA Polo GTI is a lot more than $28k drive away! $29990 for a 5dr Polo and $38990 for manual 3dr Golf is a lot closer, but again, the onroads for the Golf can't be any less so to get any closer than that $9k difference you're getting a discount; very surprised if you can get anywhere near even half of that.
I guess with onroads the percentage-difference is a bit smaller?Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

10 days in with the Gti. Still pretty happy it.
Went for a little blast through the hills and its nice and fun (RESON8 driving was more exciting than my effort). Doesn't feel rocketship fast in a straight line, but more than enough poke for city driving (which is what the Mrs will use it for mostly)
Averaging around the 8L/100 for the first tank.
Only issue is a small rattle from the wind deflector (when the sunroof is closed). Will get it sorted at the first service. Also ordered the premium Satnav/bluetooth module from ebay (got to love VW's modular approach to upgrades!)
Some of the guys on Vw Watercooled bat off like these things are the best cars ever made. So far I would say they are good value for what they are. Not too much point of pics or a thread on this thing. Its a stocky VW. Looks the same as in the sales brochure.

I was a nice car to drive felt very solid for such a small car. I like how the power delivery isn't completely linear the supercharger gave plenty of low down torque but you could still feel the turbo kick in and start pulling. Also has pretty sweet induction/engine noise.
Dsg makes it a nice daily but for weekend car a manual would be more fun.
Will be good to take it for another spin once you do some induction and exhaust mods plus more boost
