i bought my VZ from a dude in WA who had the worst listing in gumtree ever. hence prices kept on dropping, i even felt bad paying the price i did.

Only downside to the 500 dollar shitter is the hidden nightmares...yeah its awesome to buy a 70s merc or volvo,or anything for that matter, to drive as a daily, but you roll the dice really on whether you have to spend more thaan that to get it running...Ive bought a couple of cars where,as Cammo says...."just needs a fuel pump",got one fitted it then found the injectors were fucked!!
There are cheapys out there and I acively search for them too,but tread carefully when buying the wierd/rare shit on a whim
I've bought eight decent, running 240s in the last three years, and never paid more than $300 for one. All but two were registered, and there was a ninth car that had several months rego & was near immaculate but with a blown HG.
One of them (Hippy) is easily the best $300 car I've ever bought - and I've bought an awful lot of $300 cars.

In terms of parts costs, only muppets walk into their local dealership and start waving cash around...

Could be a 240K for that money ... if any are still running?

If a 240Z is like an E-Type then surely a 240K is just like a Jaguar XK or similar?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

But most 70s RWD jap cars are fucked or worth way too much. Or both. Plus parts are a bitch (just because they're 30~40 years old, before you look at build quality).

I still love my old Mazdas, but you'd have to have rocks in your head to pay $4k for an average condition 808. There's a lot of decent cars that can be bought for $4k now.
