Yep. I agree with this guy.Originally posted by Cracka View PostBut wait. Buy new car, then bolt on 15 year old sti brembos with non complianced or engineered adaptor plates on rear. So let's factor in the best buy price for a set of reasonable non salt fucked brembos. 1400.
New dba rotors 900.
QFM pads 450
Adaptor brackets 250.
So before turning a spanner on a new warranted ADR compliant car you spend 3k+ and make it illegal.
Or 5k you get bigger factory brakes with another 3-5k of trimmings including an LSD etc.
You guys are crazy.
I remember when the guys on the LS1 scene were buying povo spec SV8's then upgrading engines, brakes etc and racing them. Fucking rediculous.. They should have just bought an HSV then they wouldnt have needed to change a thing!

This is what I was thinking too, but I have a feeling I heard on the Evo track test with the auto BRZ that they said the pedal was getting long...manual no doubt would be a touch better on brakes than an auto though.Originally posted by NFJ16 View PostI haven't heard anywhere that the stock brakes are shit. So why is everyone rushing for upgrades?
As for me getting one, the Minister for War and Finance (mostly war this week) has said no to getting one right now. As mentioned previously in the thread if we end up having no kids then we'll get one, if we have kids then we'll look once the kid is a tiny bit older.
Makes sense I guess, going to be moving to one income soon etc etc, but fucking frustrating...She did seem pretty interested in the wheels article where they compare a Cayman and the 86, she couldn't understand how a $30k toyota could beat a Porsche though, she'd understand if she drove it tho, hopefully we'll do that soon with the friendly sales manager at Toyota... :DI survived the patio flooding catastrophe of 2012.

Because wankery pissing contest.Originally posted by NFJ16 View PostI haven't heard anywhere that the stock brakes are shit. So why is everyone rushing for upgrades?
I think Cal summed it up best. Pads, lines, fluid done. If that's all he needs on a MX5 to win races why the fuck would you need more on a streetcar..Originally posted by SI just want to apologise for some of my shit talking back around page 5.

Exactly.Originally posted by neil_se View PostGTS brakes aren't anywhere near the size of Brembos and LSD is standard for the GT manual. Anyone bolting on Brembos likely gives no fuck for legality as the rest of the car will be fairly modified anyway. I can't ever remember thinking "I wish my racecar had heated seats".
I'm already shopping for a good set of front and rear brembo calipers.

As long as the stock brakes are fade free for say 6 laps around Wakefield, then fine. But I think it would be a tough ask. I guess it would make sense to try them out first, but having the biggers brakes you know that it will never be an issue.Originally posted by Uncle View PostBecause wankery pissing contest.

Master cylinder brace, stainless braided lines, good pads ... stopped really well every time.

because internet...
really 33k is on the money for what this is, yeah you can spend another 6k plus for goodies but then it ceases to be the bargain that it is..

Because there's no way to know, and it's a crapload easier to just get the one with the better brakes upfront rather than take the ganble?
Unless that question was about the likes of aftermarket Brembo upgrades, then it's iBenchRacing.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

That was my personal take on it, 34k on the road for the base model, buying the car for "fun", satnav, ugly 17s and some bad leather seats aren't going to increase my fun levels like other shit (non car related) I can spend that 5k on.Originally posted by crimespree View Postbecause internet...

If I wasn't a cash paying povvo and I was financing it like a massive baller cunt, I'd probably pick the GTS.Parramatta Eels, 2009 Premiership rightful winners.

I would be amazed if the stock brakes with decent pads and fluid are fading after 6 laps of Wakefield. If heavier, much more powerful cars with smaller brakes can bang out three or four times that distance on full race slicks without fade just why do people think a lighter, less powerful car with larger brakes will fade so quickly?Originally posted by MZ21 View PostAs long as the stock brakes are fade free for say 6 laps around Wakefield, then fine. Well obviously you're doing it wrong. You should finance the gts with a $34000 deposit. Then your monthly repayments would like $ 86.86 and you to could be rolling in a gts.Originally posted by MartyXF View Post
