I remember when Power Steering, Aircon, power mirrors and velour seats were luxury. Honestly you're (well I am, so I won't comment on others) buying a car that was built primarily as a fun, drivers car, that be driven in anger along a twisty road or taken to the track to have some fun.
Things like leather bolstered seats, premium sound, dual zone air (seriously dual zone air in a car the size of a 240z WTF!) etc etc don't matter.
I'm buy this thing to thrash the shit out of it. I don't want spend one cent more than required on road, and that $5665 I save means I have money to give to Dale (hint hint Dale) to make it go faster!
About the *only* that I wold have wished for are the bigger brakes, but I will play that one by ear and if required just go straight to a big brake setup (2002-2004 STi Rotors and 2002-2008 STi Brembo's)
A side note I took out my 260z on Sunday, cloth seats, no steer, no air, two tinny speakers (although I did upgrade the head unit), but with a glorious set of carbs, extractors, free flowing exhaust. Drove it for 150K round trip. That sound, that smell of fuel, I wasn't thinking hmmm I wonder if I had leather seats would my driving experience be enhanced or if I had a sat nav would be able to found the Old Pacific Hwy etc. That shit doesn't matter.
Well said.
Love your dual zone comment. Hell even in my Calais dual zone air con is overkill. It's only ever me in the car, and if there were another person, and we couldn't find an agreeable point, there bigger problems than can be solved by air con.
And stereo? After 8 years without one, I finally put one in, and promptly broke it. Back to driving my Calais without stereo. All sound of motor... In a Calais for goodness sake.
For some, it is about driving.
I dropped by a couple of Brisbane dealerships yesterday afternoon and was told the stock was still sitting in the Brendale holding yard due to pre-delivery delays. They should have them on the showroom floor at some stage this week.

As you have the 260Z is this to be your daily or another toy?
I know I don't really give a damn about luxuries in my GTR as it is a toy and used as such.
In my GTi which I daily I do like some little luxuries with, even though it is still a 'fun' car.
I like it to be a nice place to be because sometimes I just don't want to go somewhere, so having a nice comfortable car with some luxuries like cruise, good stereo, nice seats and trim etc really make the trip less painful
For me the the FRS would be a fun daily like my GTi, I would have no interest in making it quicker, so I'd pony up the extra for the GTS.

Agreed, it's almost as bad as that "I'm such a bad driver & damage my bumpers so often I can't afford to paint them" silver thing.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Biggest thing I miss about my 240z. The sound of carbs

To me, it sounds like his GT 86 is going to be a fun car to drive, that can be taken to the track, but also drive around on a daily basis in relative comfort. You're kidding yourself if you think even a GT isn't going to be nice to drive daily. Yeah the GTS will be a bit nicer, but GT will definitely be good as well.
With the GT vs GTS thing, I acknowledge that it's horses for courses, whatever floats your boat yadda yadda. I personally have a car with nothing in it for flogging the shit out of and it's great.
For daily driving, I like something sports orientated but niceish at the same time. I give no fuck for dual zone climate control though haha.
Who posted up the pic of the stripper 86 with the works? I wonder what specs the wheels are, looks like they offer a few sizes and offsets that will work (excuse the pun).
Work seem to be the only non knock off wheel company that offer decent specs in 5x100.
Uncle you cunt, I'm sure your balls deep in a test drive right now. Please share your experiences.
Nup sales drone rang me at 6 last night to say the car has been delayed. He is going to call me when it turns up. TBH I'm not overly fussed. If I really like it I'll buy it other wise I'll save up another 10k and it's German Super Beetle time.

The gti is a lot more cash. I think a few people are forgetting what else mid 30s buys in the current market.
