Ok, my life is now complete!
Red GTS was gone, and in its place was a Silver GTS
First impressions, the car is very small and low, nice overall shape and stance, a set of wheels is all it needs to really set it off.
Opened the door, greeted with a nice new car waft, cabin initially looked attractive and very well presented.
Lots of soft feel materials used, like the door pull on the inside which is always a nice touch, top of the dash is almost rubberised, feels nice but resistance to Australian sun?.
Closer inspection to some of the items reveals some cheapness, gear knob although leather feels like an extremely thin and a little loose fitting leather with like a foam backing, which would wear thru in 50'000kms or less as does some of the padding on the doors, stereo extremely cheap looking, fake carbon fibre dash insert bit tacky and plastic'y.
Switch gear felt fine....and by fine I mean more akin to my iLoad fine than VW fine..
Seats were good for my 85kg frame, but not as supportive as Golf GTi seats, steering wheel felt nice also, but again not as nice as a GTi item.
Overall though perfectly acceptable I reckon for what it is, I would like to have seen the GT.
If I did'nt have a GTi already I would buy one as a daily, but at almost $39'000 driveaway its not enough to sway me.
I did'nt waste the Young dealers time asking for a drive, he said he'd have a full range of specs and transmisions available next week.
Other than that he just rabbited on about the cars history, to which I give no fark, and then told me he thinks the car is remenicent of an RX8 in its style and character.......which....well, I said thats probably not the best thing to be telling punters as there probably the No.1 sports car for Fags.......
