fucking looks like a sports car... a car doesn't have to be fast to be a sports car you know. The Poms in particular have a long tradition of building slow sports cars.

90% of the people who have driven one already are the one's taken hook line and sinker by the marketing and hype surrounding the car. Not surprised they're not dissapointed.

Its a nice little car for the money, but I'm tired of the marketing bs being inhaled and spoken back at us all the time on forums. The idea of ruining this car with a bit of lowering and a set of wheels and tyres being the prime example. I've had low powered, lightweight cars. All of them were better and more fun on decent rubber. Crap tyres off a Prius are very likely to be a complete hinderance to enjoying the car IMO, by letting go way before you're having any fun. See how much fun you're having next time you can't get away from a Prius in the twisties...

Over tyring a car is not marketing, it's nothing new & has been spoken about for decades

There are plenty of people who will enjoy/welcome lower grip limits, just as there are people who feel the need to have a road car that needs to be driven at 10/10ths on the street to enjoy

when I was 17 I had an N10 Pulsar with bald tyres. It slid around all over the place too - didn't make it good.

you have to use tyres off a Prius to avoid 'over tyring' it?

          No you don't

The car works on a whole bunch of tyres look at the lap time posted by Mr1jz earlier in the thread when they fitted AD08s to it. Seriously don't like them, stop off at Bob-Jane on the way home and get whatever you want fitted up FFS. Keep the standard wheels & tyres for having fun with.

My old MA61 with 215/65/14s was sensational to throw around, big $$$ thrown at suspension so it was very stable, easily adjustable on the throttle or via the wheel etc but because the thresh hold at which the tyres let go at was low it meant you could have shitloads of fun on the street without killing yourself. Grippier tyres mean the speed at which you start sliding is significantly higher meaning the level of risk to have said fun starts increasing rapidly, they also have a tendancy to just let go rather then break away nicely.
            If in doubt power out

you're missing the point. Its marketing wank/hype that's been accepted by people who should know better. No other 4cyl hot hatch or fun car needed crap 'eco tyres' off a hybrid econobox to make them 'fun'... Type R interga wasn't boring to drive because it had 'high performance' Bridgestones, for example.

You know the part I don't get?

Why the fuck do you care? Are you going to buy one? Nope.

yes, clearly, "shit" tyres are hurting this car.

of course I'm not rushing out to buy one. I didn't fall for the marketing bs and fanboi hysteria surrounding the car. You can't even say eco low rolling resistance tyres are crap without getting your head bitten off by wankers rushing to defend the very ethos/ideals behind the whole project! lol

UZZ31, I guess you just looked at the pretty pictures because everytime they mention the FRS its about having to lift, be cautious or how disconcerting its behavious is...

This is what I have been saying from day one.

But what else can you get for $30k?

^ This. There is nothing else anything like this for $30k (used cars excluded). There are hardly any fun cars for $30k at all. $40k gets you some cars which may or may not be marginally faster in a straight line but not as good everywhere else (eg. Golf GTI) or stuff that is faster all round but maybe not as much fun (eg. WRX).

FWIW I don't think 0-100 in the 7s is really all that slow; it's faster than most other things on sale. 9s would be slow, that's econobox territory.

find it strange that they like the BRZ more than the Toyota because it slides less and has higher limits???
imagine how good it could be with some proper high performance road tyres...

^ conversely if it is already able to beat its competition on a track, why on earth would it need higher-spec tyres for the street?
