i want one.. badly. and i actually agree with HRD.

they obviously market the as 'cheap fun', but the car has been designed and engineered very carefully to have the most capable chassis around. they just put the shit tyres on it to make it slide for the drift wanna be's.

yes that is fun, but as hrd said, if i was having a fang round the (insert famous driving round in your local area here) and i couldnt get away from an (insert some random less'er car here) it ceases to be fun for me.

so yes, i would drive straight to the tyre shop and put semi's or some shit on it.

cracka, MX5's are slow, but all the guys that race them reckon they are a really fun thing to race. slow DOESNT equal not-fun.

but as someone else said, its just a personal opinion. some cunts are happy sliding all over the place. i can do that in my old XD wagon. if im buying an 86, its because i want a cheap new car that handles awesome out of the box. cant think of many people that race on prius tyres.

I don't neccessarily consider being on/over the limit as a car being fun to drive.

I'd rather have a set of tyres that allow me to have a fun drive WITHOUT the risk of fucking up too badly, that can also save my arse/car/another driver/pedestrian in an emergency. Unless I feel like really having a go/doing something a little bit stupid (which isn't impossible with good tyres, you just have to actually commit).

I thought overtyring a car was more about too much unsprung weight for a lightweight car and extra grip and resistance loading up the suspension to a point the delicate balance is deteriorated.

And TBH - balance is where the fun of a sports car should be at!

I'm "leasing" mine and will be putting wheels and coilovers on. Stock wheels and tyres will stay in my shed.
