    Official BRZ pricing
    http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/c...713-2213z.html

Subaru is also offering the BRZ at a driveaway price that includes free scheduled servicing for the first three years or 60,000 kilometres.
The BRZ comes in at just one level, coincidentally or not, very close to the Toyota 86 GTS. The BRZ six-speed manual is priced at a no more- to-pay $37,150, with the six-speed automatic another $2580
Direct comparisons with the 86 pricing are difficult. The Toyota price doesn’t include registration, stamp duty and dealer delivery, which add about $3500, while even with Toyota’s fixed-price servicing (at $170 a service) there’s another $680 during the first three years of ownership (service intervals are nine months).

Factor all that in and the 86 GTS is about $2400 more than the Subaru, but the Toyota also gets satnav and leather/heated seats – the latter pairing a $1500 option on the BRZ. So we’re talking about ... well, not a lot in terms of differentiation. Except for image, branding, customer loyalty and that bold online sales approach.

This. It should go well at Gatebil, with its 2JZ and all.

So rumours circulating earlier in the week were right.

Free servicing. Wow. There's a first for Subaru.

Seems so, the spec level looks good. Nice interior without the dodgey satnav and artificial suede seats

That's your choice. I prefer not having a potential head smacking device hanging off the windscreen.

I thought it was law now that manufacturers must advertise the driveaway pricing ...remember only a few years ago everything was (+orc) Toyota are advertising pricing before onroads ? I noticed the cheapest one on carsales was about $37k for a GT auto.

Toyota website is like any other manufacturer in AUS... You put in your postcode and it tells you driveaway price?

if you wanna be up with what the cool kids have you'd get a double din Android 4 solid state head unit (ie. it has no music cd drive)

this would kill all your GPS and media needs dead (unless you are Forg and need a CD)

its an 86... you need to keep up with the hipsters

oh yeah it does , so the $29990 is all a bullshit headline , its actually $34190 driveaway for the base model manual and $39855 for the gts.

I didn't think anyone really bothers with rrp prices anyway. It's nice that you can get an on-road price easily without dealing with a sales drone these days.

I am pleasantly surprised the BRZ is competitively priced (but still prefer the 86).

This a pretty good thing actually. So basically you can get the 86/brz in three trim levels. If the gt is too basic then go for a brz. Want all the bling up front get a gts.

                          Oh no

I went around the corner to the massive Toyota dealership to have a look at one, fully expecting that I wouldn't fit in it headroom-wise (Don't fit in NSX, DR30, MX5, barely fit in Aristo/Chaser/Liberty/5 Series/Merc GL, had to get VR6 seats with adjustable rails to fit in Golf etc)

                          I fit. Just.

And the two things that annoy me the most in cars, oil filters and alternators that are a pain in the arse to get to, are not problems with these things at all, they're both mounted right at the top of the engine bay

This could cause my hip pocket some pain...

Subaru alternators are known to fail
They could put the alternator between 500 locked precious metal cages with barriers of aids, airborne duck vomit emitters and nazi slogans in bold font and noone would give a fuck because it just doesnt matter on a flat 4 with reliable shit.

Changing a timing belt or head gasket though? Fuck you subaru.

That said if my black liberty sells...I'll be in the first manual BRZ I can get my hands on I think. Need to get a look at if the leather is worth it. Sat nav is definitely not.
