When is the last time you saw a toyota catalogue refer to the fact that it can carry 4 tyres and spares for track days?!?

12.5:1 CR puts paid to anything but very low-boost bolt-on turbo/blower kits methinks

12.5 comp ratio... higher than Mazda's SkyActiv for Australia.

On the same page they mention you can fit two golf bags in... nullifies the track tyre claim

            Impact on warranty?

DI and this skyactive shit puts paid to conventional wisdom on comp ratios

would not surprise me if they make a plain port injection mill for countries with crap fuel

I am sure it will only be a couple of months after launch until someone like HKS brings out a turbo kit.

A set of $500 CP/JE/Wiseco pistons (or $4000 HKS pistons) plus thicker headgaskets and E85 should allow scope. I wouldn't write it off yet.

Yeah, you either go NA and a hi comp ratio or you turbo and use DI to maintain a relatively high comp ratio.
Mazda's DI is tuned for crap fuel - 91RON.

Not writing it off by any means, high compression i would think means good things for n/a mods, it just means (AFAIK) you wouldnt be *bolting-on* a turbo and making huge gains like you would with say a UZ

Yeah but with already 200hp from a 2.0L, is it going to show any decent gains from cams etc?

THis may be a very simplistic view (and correct me if im wrong!) but my understanding is that the higher the compression the better more aggressive cams work. Im sure the gurus here (TK?) can expand on this? I do get what youre saying though, how much is left in it...

Think of how useless it is trying to modify a factory Honda with 100bhp/L stock......

It is also the same power N/A, using the "same" basic engine as the first WRX had isn't it?
Yes, and the power tails off at 7k apparently, so you'd assume that it's pulse-tuned to the last inch of its life, and any mods might make you go backwards (bit like the Honda)

I wonder if that will be tuned down for our fuel.
