I'm betting that it'll cost exactly the same as a 370z by the time it gets here.
Be prepared to lose your bet then. 370Z is how much brand new? High $70's?

This really isnt much different to the S15 nissan brought out ages ago. That was 50k from memory.
I have no idea what all the freakin fuss is about.

The fuss is that there is no modern day S15! There's very little that's RWD and not a big Aussie sedan this side of $70k. End of.

I am sure this will be priced at 30,000 AUD

I thought they were low 60's. Anyway it'll be closer to 70 than 30

The concept looked way better than what is in the video. The subuaru version is way ahead looks/design wise.

                    Not sure about this.

Who chose the wheels for the orange base spec one? Look like something Tempe might have sold circa 1996.

was looking promising but quite under powered in todays age, even with the lowish weight!

Maybe not as badly as you would think actually

                        1180kg and 145kw.

The Golf GTi has 1330kg and 152kw. That would give the Toyota the edge you would think.

So obviously not super powered, but I think the Golf GTi has 'enough' power for sure.

The Toyota might be able to pull high 6 to 100 acceleration. When I heard it was going to have a n/a Subaru engine I thought of the bore fest that is a base Impreza, but it might just be ok.

That's because in this day and age the only thing people give a fuck about is peak power figures.

The Golf GTI also has a shitload more torque.

205Nm is what may result in slowness more than 147kW.

I think you fail to remember that torque turns tyres

280 Nm at 1700 - 5200 rpm for the GTi, rather than 205 nm at 6,600. A GTi will be significantly faster in a straight line- figures suggest mid 6s for the Golf. Plus a bucket load more power & torque is only a reflash away...

Renault Clio sport 200 has very similar power and a bit more torque to the 86 but it's all lower down, the Clio is slightly lighter, and can only just muster 6.9 sec to 100 km... I reckon you'll see 7.2 at best out of the 86...
