If Hyundai released a Genesis here for $28k they'd sell a shitload ... instead the sub-Genesis Veloster Turbo will sell for more like $36k ...Originally posted by cheapracer View Postthe Hyundai with 70hp more and costs 2000 less
The Japanese don't buy Korean ... is it worth the RHD engineering for Aus, NZ, the UK and ... what, Hong Kong?Originally posted by UncleYou would think its got to be a matter of time. Surly Hyundai would be looking at it.
The EVO article said they weren't sure if the GT86 was worth the £7000 over the Clio RS didn't they?Originally posted by rj_astra View PostEVO mag just can't seem to give it top marks for some reason.
...
I think the high price of the GT86 in the UK has something to do with it
I think that shows how arse-about things are over there!
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Thanks. What I'm wondering about is the later upgrade ability of the GT brakes - obviously easier if it's just discs/calipers. Although I'm starting to see enough good reasons to find an extra $3k or so for the BRZ over the GT. (Good thing I have literally years to decide...)Originally posted by Cracka
gts/brz use 2011+ wrx brakes F&R
gt uses jdm forester non turbo rear brakes.
No idea if master cyl is different though sorry.

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) GT86 CS-V3
Race version from the German branch $50k,~
"Key changes to the car include a stiffened chassis and optimized weight distribution, as well as a racing exhaust system, uprated suspension and brakes, a full roll cage and a stripped-out interior. The basic powertrain has been left unchanged, however, which means peak output from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine is just 200 horsepower."

I doubt it. 13" brembos for 1500 dry weight cars doing targa and circuit shit.Originally posted by MZ21 View PostThe gts/brz brakes aren't much of an 'upgrade'. There's already a kit being worked on that uses the Sti brembo calipers. Now thats what I am waiting for.
Stock 12" brakes with better pads will be fine for all but the race cars. This thing weighs 20% less.
Also brembos are fucking heavy.
And there is zero need to wait for a kit. 08+ brembos bolt straight on if you flip the bleed nipple on the fronts. DBA have sold rotors to suit this since 2002 and are very common.Originally posted by BosshoggettIf your planing to drive this on the road and enjoy it, id suggest a second opinion, someone with a history in Australian Rally or Fink River . If your just playing dyno comps. Then ok

That said, most niggas with big enough wheels to fit brembos want them just for aesthetics. Fair enough too.Originally posted by BosshoggettIf your planing to drive this on the road and enjoy it, id suggest a second opinion, someone with a history in Australian Rally or Fink River .
