yeah i think this car is really no more good looking than the Cerato coupe

if you're a numpty and don't care for the "86" legend, the fwd coupes (all 1 or 2 of them) would suffice really

Back when there were 200SX, Supras and the like around the hairdressers still bought Celicas, S Coupes, Lancers and Preludes in droves. rj_astra I don't get the coupe hate? Euro hatches fucking suck man.

They actually didn't buy them in droves... that's why they all disappeared

I think the FT86 is an answer to a question that the buying public didn't ask.
Is anyone on here actually going to 100% lay their hard earned cash down and buy one?

fuck no, it's too expensive/underpowered/overweight. but for someone in the market for a new, fun car it looks pretty ideal!

I know it will be a "fun" car. But what's the target market?

Engine shot. Note engine position vs strut towers.

This is someones rendition of engine placement vs an impreza, I think they are being a bit dramatic/optimistic myself.

i think this will flop after the initial orgy of wanking in the first 1yr to 18 months

but... this is toyota... they have a lot of pride at stake

they will probably make this for years just as a showcase of what they are

                this is their GTR

be that as it may, i don't care if it flops... i think that if you don't want one new for $34,990 just wait a few years and it'll be like the Monaro is today... relatively unwanted and cheap

i'm no huge fan of the 86 mania but this is what you guys wanted... and now its here you don't like it

For sure... well not new, probably a second hand one in 2-3 years to replace the typeR. Honestly if I want fasts in a straight line I'll just take the Fireblade.

You're all fucken size queens. Turbofantastics adn a million killwhats will just ruin it.

It will be a huge success in Japan, possibly the USA and some parts of europe where people do trackdays for social events.
It will probably fail here due to being overpriced and nowhere to use it.
I hope it doesn't fail though as it looks like a great thing in principle!
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

so is there enough room for a v12 in this one?

isnt that really the question on everyones minds?

Side note i dont mind it...

i wouldnt buy it new but then i wouldnt buy any car new either

it makes me happy that toyota have decided to release something that isnt a hybrid and is a fair bit more sports orientated

I'd buy it. The amount of aftermarket shit will be huge. Things will become cheap once the us start doing shit to them.

My bet is that all the people you used to buy Type-Rs will buy this. Same sort of idea. Don't really care about fasts, just want the v-tec yo! and car park cred.
