im betting that they will release a TSB for engine update software. no biggie, as long as they dont drop engine power from it.

Surely idle issue has nothing to do with any need to reduce power. Even if it was pinging, how could that affect return to idle?

Im not saying it will or wont. I know nothing about the problem. what i am saying is you cant trust manufacturers with shit like reflashes. chrysler atleast admitted it was reducing engine power with their torque converter recall.

Paul did about 1:09 with 2 of us in the car in full street trim (including full size spare, and my soft tool bag - forgot that was in the boot)

i think there was a little more in it as he only did 2 laps before this flying one, and we had to over take another car on one of the turns...

i have to edit the vid as the camera has split it into 30sec sections with a 2 sec over lap?? if i can get it done will post it up...

What clutch did mz21 end up getting for his car?
Did it go back out for another 1/4 run?
                              Final power?

Didn't see this mentioned here already - would make this car pretty much perfect if true. From Drive in the SMH:

Subaru's BRZ sports coupe is set to get a factory-developed turbocharger, according to reports from the US.

The automotivenews.com website says it has been told that a blown 2.0-litre engine is being developed using a single twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection.

It speculates that such an engine could generate up to 209kW of power and 340Nm of torque – almost identical in output to a six-cylinder Holden Commodore SV6 (210kW/350Nm). The current BRZ is a massive 445kg lighter than the Commodore.

Put another way, the BRZ turbo would produce around 169kW per tonne – only slightly less than a Porsche 911 Carrera coupe (174kW/tonne). The 911 Carrera sprints to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Advertisement The existing naturally aspirated BRZ makes 147kW and 205Nm from its naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine, a power-to-weight ratio of 118kW/tonne. It reaches 100km/h in about 6.1 seconds.

From the moment the BRZ and its co-developed Toyota brother, the 86, were released, aftermarket tuners turned their attention to turbocharging, supercharging and any other aftermarket tweaks to lift performance.

Glowing media reviews of both cars have regularly praised their sublime handling, crisp steering and excellent gearboxes, while bemoaning the lack of extra urge that the well-sorted chassis seems to have been built to take.

Subaru Australia spokesman David Rowley says he is unaware of a factory effort to turbocharge the BRZ. "They haven't told us anything along those lines," he says.

The turbocharged BRZ is unlikely to go into production until 2014, automotivenews.com reports.
Even if they only got it to about 150kW/tonne it would be pretty well ideal. I'd still happily buy one in current spec but if more power was available for a few grand more why wouldn't you?
