Put a set of TRD coilovers in one of these today. Lowered about 20mm and getting a wheel alignment tomorrow. Should see a noticeable improvement in handling.

Doesn't that sort of spoil the point of the car?Originally posted by spunkrat View PostPut a set of TRD coilovers in one of these today. Lowered about 20mm and getting a wheel alignment tomorrow. This argument ranged about 100 pages back. Ie the car has been set up to handle in a "fun" way. Making it handle better will take this "fun" away?Originally posted by TT View Postwhat? an improvement in handling?"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horsepower." - Mark Donahue Penske Porsche 917

You're confusing handling with grip. You always want a car to handle better, you don't necessarily want to to have massive grip if it's being driven on public roads.Originally posted by itsnotagsr View PostThis argument ranged about 100 pages back. The whole 'it goes sideways' thing is massively misunderstood. 86's are very neutral, the thing about their handling is that since they're so balanced and communicative you can play with them on the edge of grip very easily and if you so choose put them over that edge of grip relatively easily. It doesn't mean you have to drive them sideways to have fun nor does it mean they're going to be sideways if you try to press on, it's just that you can if you want to.

It would also depends on what people define as handling "better" as well wouldn't it? Some prefer the stiffer front end of the Scooby 86 and some prefer the slightly softer front end of the Toymotor BRZ....Nathan

Understood, but by changing the setup, aren't you altering the neutrality you speak of?Originally posted by IMOA View PostYou're confusing handling with grip. You always want a car to handle better, you don't necessarily want to to have massive grip if it's being driven on public roads.

I don't think I have seen yours around yet. In saying that, I am not in Toowoomba very much, unfortunately. I am sure I will see it sometime!Originally posted by neil_se View PostMine is about 1" lower too and it looks perfect, just how it should have looked from the factory without being slammed.
