Got mine on 28/12. Has about 900km on it atm. Needs more. Not going to worry about more power/better handling until I can actually drive properly. Might start with decent tyres and work my way up.

What reputation do the synchros have in the manual (google tells me it's the Aisin RA62 box, same as IS250)? Reason I ask is my brothers car has pretty shit second gear synchros. No skids or flat/hard shifts done in it either, and not a manual n00b.

edit: Otherwise no issues to report; panel gaps are perfect, no dashboard rattles or squeeks and no dodgy paint.

It's a modified version of the Aisin AZ6 so same as IS200, S15, S2000, MX5 etc. Not sure if the modifications fixed the circlip on 4th gear issue that plagued the S15's but also given the much lower torque compared to a modded S15 I doubt that would be as much of an issue either.

I've had zero issues with the box, despite some very hard launches, but to sure I have a spare box on the way

Actually there was an article where someone went to considerable lengths to confirm/deny whether the box is the same or similar to the S15/IS200 one - turns out its not, it's a completely new and different box.

It's dual mass so you're going to have/want to do the flywheel at the same time

Thats this one which he concludes it's a modified AZ6 after someone at Toyota put in the press pack that it was the RA62

Ah that's the one! Yes it's a "TL70", but it is derived from the J160, my bad

Was driving around in my cousins today for pretty much the whole afternoon.

If I cant afford a megane RS in the next year, its one of these.

Random niggle, when stationary and changing into first to take off an audible knock comes from the rear. LSD?

Test drove the Megane RS 265 Cup the other day. Fucking brilliant. Walked next door and ordered a ST for myself but damn the RS was a well hooked up ride.

Dunno if it's the same thing, but try letting the clutch out more smoothly/hold it at take up and give slightly more revs than usual. Altezza's do this too (same box afaik) with lazy clutch technique.
