The Darton sleeves are US825 plus shipping. On top of that need to factor machining costs of this end.

      Hmmmm tough choice.

Considering subaru have known about their motors moving bore issues for more than a decade, im absolutely disgusted to find out the FA motors appear to have the same problem.

                Eh?

How does someone making liners for an open deck block mean there is bore issues?

IIRC darton has been making sleeves for ever for EJ motors because the bores walk around when making a bit more power than stock?

That's probably a bit of an exaggeration. Would only be getting the sleeves if deciding to really turn up the wick in the future. But based on a landed price of $1150 which means gst plus customs etc (will get held up) and machining costs ill end up passing on these.

Darton make sleeves for various engines because they are a engine sleeve making company

But aren't most open deck engines potentially problematical when pushing more power through them? Suspect that manufacturers dont' make them open by choice, it's an emissions thing.

Sounds similar to the UK price?
Actually, given that it's the same price here as in the USA, it's probably more accurate to say that for some reason Toyota Australian aren't shafting the Australian market in the way most manufacturere & importers (including Toyota) almost always do; the price they're selling it here for is unusually low when you compare other imported cars with their US & Japanese prices.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
