Niche market, supply-constrained 86/BRZ still likely outselling Falcon

Wierd how they call a Camry a Medium size car and an Aurion a large car when there exactly the same size.......WTF.

My brother finally got his back from dealer. Took it in 8weeks ago due to big end failure. It took that long to remove engine and replace... He's not happy, but glad to have it back. Still no idea what went wrong.

They pick their segments VERY carefully though.
The "86" segment is the only one which wouldn't put you to sleep if it was described. Think of everything else they make; Corolla, Camry, Landcruiser, Prado, Hiace, Hilux; it's all boring-as-batshit, those segments are about reliable commuting & nothing else.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Since fitting sti front calipers the brake pedal is a bit on the spongy side. Needs a short stab on the brake pedal until you get a nice firm pedal. Brakes have been bled twice. Any ideas. Master cylinder perhaps?

If they have a new engine ready to go it should be two days max.

Mine took around 8 weeks that was with getting the whole thing rebuilt, waiting for parts from the us, sending the block away etc etc.

It might need a bigger master maybe? what size is the stock one? (assuming its all bled up well of course)
Its a common issue/fix on early eavos when you upgrade to brembos too.

Will compare this one against an my12 sti master cylinder, but I think the 86 gt one is smaller.

Every braking system has a bit of slack in it which has to be taken up when you hit the pedal, if the mc is too small it can't move the volume of fluid in that movement at the top of the pedal travel which is required to take up that slack so you end up with a dead spot. It feels like the brakes aren't properly bled when they are so if that's what you're getting its almost certainly the mc is too small.

this. will most likely need a bigger master to push more fluid through.

I haven't had a look at the ABS unit on my 86... But had a similar problem after a big 4 piston caliper upgrade on a newish corolla, there was a bleed nipple on the ABS unit which I'd overlooked.

They didn't have a new engine. No surprise because it is a brand new car, so don't have full stock of spares. But they originally told him about 3 weeks, and he was being told that there was an engine on the way from Japan nearly straight away. But there wasn't, that was just bullshit to keep him happy. He was told that TMCA had an engine coming for their own testing etc, and that because a warranty is more important they would put that in his car. This didn't happen. When he spoke to a TMCA rep about it, rather than the service department, all the bloke said was "Yeah, that didn't happen". The whole thing was just very poorly handled.

could be balloning the lines? Braided lines might help. I dunno.
