i have, most useless rear seats ive been in. my GTR, and KE25 have more room in the back! ill bet that the rear of an 86 is like a maybach 62 in comparison

Here's my thoughts on the gearbox so far:
          - 1st, 2nd, 3rd are quite notchy when cold
          - 2nd can be a bit difficult to get into when cold, but only for the first minute at most
          - 3rd stays somewhat notchy, but my last car was similar, to shift slow it likes a very slight lean on the gate for a moment for the synchro to do its thing, then just push it right in
          - I've not found any problems changing swiftly, I don't get the "doesn't like to be rushed" issue but then your version of rushed might be "ripping gearstick out of floor" compared to mine
          - Once warm, each gear can be popped in with my pinky

I took notice today because another owner I know mentioned he wasn't particularly happy with his, and I did about 70km of enjoyable driving today

The level of notchiness seems similar to what I remember from my old Falcon's T5 gearbox feel (not much else is similar though!). The feel of 3rd is exactly like my Bluebird, and I've driven that gearbox with the original build as well as having been rebuilt twice with aftermarket bits. I'm reasonably happy with the 86 gearbox overall.

There more room in the back of a Soarer than there is in both a Supra and an 86...

Trickiest thing I have found with the gearbox is that it's a very easy to get fourth instead of second when pushing hard and make the corner a big understeery mess.

Notchy otherwise but fine. Mind you I also haev an old mini with a pudding stirrer direct change, so I think anything else is decent.

How does a JZA80 compare to these things in terms of handling and steering feel? It's been too long since I've driven one and can't remember...

Having driven a *very* well looked after 1993 Supra Turbo Manual (first owner in Oz and pretty much stock), I'd say the 86/BRZ is way ahead in terms of the driving experience. The Supra will shit all over it in straight line and probably around a track to but there's no getting away from the extra weight it carries. 86 seems more willing to turn in. Probably didn't help that the Supra was 15 years when I punted it around and I'm comparing it to a brand new car.

Great, thanks mate. Just having another "What other cars could I have bought instead of the 86 and should I sell it and buy one for no real good reason" moments...
