Ha, for domestic maybe. Complete opposite in the commercial market. I've not got one trucking client in WA because WA rates are about half what they are in the eastern states.

tuning results i've seen from the US indicates that the ECU's learn around things and gains often drop off/arent repeatable

Typical insurance cunts. Been with them for years on my daily, perfect record going back like 8 years, over 30. Yet they still wanted $1500 to cover an 86 for 35k.

Something about only 5% of gain before the ECU steps in.

cousin took the 86 in to get the 4th gear crunch worked out.

They looked at it and said, "yeah its like that, the gearbox doesn't like fast changes"

His reply "Its a sports car mate, its not meant to be driven like a corolla"

to which the cock of a service manager said "its not a sports car"

                        LOL WHAT CUNT

The problem is when you have a car thats been so overblown as the 86, and that its a toyota, any flaw it may have is sugar coated and "thats just the cars character" or "yeah haha, they do that don't they". If it was any other car, particularly something european it would be "yep, european cars, typical" or "japanese car's would never have this problem".

Not going to whinge, its not even my car and everything else will probably last 1000 years but we'll see how it plays out. Its still awesome and I still slightly want one

Ive got about 2500kays on mine now and the shift isnt showing any signs of improving (although ive never not been able to get a gear as above) so i'll chuck some decent fluid in the box, seems to do the trick for quite a few people on teh various forums

yeah I think a fluid change for the box will be the first port of call, apparently it does help.

Any idea of some good gearbox oils?
