Better flowing primary cat and tune tweaking will get rid of the 3k flat spot and generally make the engine breathe a bit better. Presumably also giving little bumps to max power and torque to keep the marketing people happy. Judging by aftermarket tunes even just for 98 the engine has more to give.Originally posted by TonyJZX View Posttell us what "engine/tune tweaks" they can do
i'm reminded of the scene in Terminator 2 where Schwarznegger is driving a junk heap truck and says deadpan "I'm at this vehicle's top speed"
this is a 2.0 n/a four... it hasnt go that much left
also isnt there some recertification costs with more engine power or some shit

I was at a dyno day for the NSW 86 club yesterday, the flat spot was prevalent in every car but mine and the supercharged one. Tune+headers smoothed it out quite a bit but they all had a flat spot. E-flex compatible from the factory would have to be the best way to improve the car, along with boosting it's green credentials which should give the marketing blokes a hard on.Originally posted by perthdrivers.jpg View PostBetter flowing primary cat and tune tweaking will get rid of the 3k flat spot and generally make the engine breathe a bit better. I had the car tuned for flex on Tuesday and it made 127, yesterday did 131 on the same brand/model dyno, but at different shops. Just as important as the power figure though is the "flat spot". It's greatly reduced to the point it doesn't register when actually driving, though you can still make it out on the dyno graph.

I'm the odd one out then, hate subie blue and very happy with my toyota whatever the fark its called blue. Agree that it looks shit in photos mostly, though I didn't buy it to hard park and take photos anyway.
This one makes it look more purple unless my monitor is fucked. Either way, like rbman, looks good in my garage

Poor sales axe plans for more Toyota 86 models

They're just too expensive over there. If I could get a 370z or a used Cayman for similar, I sure as hell wouldn't have bought one.
And I must be the only cunt on earth who thinks they get along well enough on the road. Did a Nebo-Glorious-Bellthorpe loop today and it carried plenty enough speed. Of course, on track is a different story.

Interesting, I know Australia has had them in higher demand then other markets, but you would think that with such a low demand people in aus could get them alot quicker then they are waiting on them for.Originally posted by Falchoon View PostPoor sales axe plans for more Toyota 86 models

Definitely not the only person who thinks so. I agree. I think that the people who whinge about them being too slow are mainly people who haven't had very much time behind the wheel of one.Originally posted by gat5rodeo View PostThey're just too expensive over there. The FT86 et al aren't selling as well as expected.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/news/...ster-scion-frs
But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel: slow sales mean there's a potential to pick up a brand new Scion FR-S at an attractive price. There are leftover 2013s and even 2014 examples sitting on dealer lots, waiting for new homes. If enough of those get sold, maybe Toyota will change its mind.
