If you don't want a WRX sound you need to get an equal length manifold, Tomei do sell both an equal length and unequal length with the unequal length being better for midrange torque (getting rid of the dip) and the equal length being better up top. The unequal looks to make the best gains overall and while it doesn't make it sound too much like a WRX it certainly makes me of that subaru boxer rumble than stock..

If you put a header on I would tune it, just speak to coyote because it doesn't need to be too expensive.

      Yep see coyote.
This is a tune with e85, Tomei EL headers, overpipe and a filter. Don't waste money on other parts. Click image for larger version

6Boost extractors flow really well. Depends how much you want to spend. If you're getting extractors may as well get tune. How long will it be until FI?

So what do you do when no E85 available? Or dual maps or Flex fuel sensor?

Honestly never had an issue. I live near e85 and just fill up when it needs. Have been "using" for over a year now.

So just an e85 only map? How do go with track work does the factory fuel pump hold up?

Just e85. Factory pump provides enough for this. Important to keep tank full at track. High G left handers (clubman QR) can induce starvation after / late in corner due to tank design. I've not had any issues with it but turbo folk and faster guys on proper sticky tyres eg z221s have (these guys may have had pumps messed with though).

I'm out of the loop with these things but is that torque dip an inlet manifold length/harmonic issue?

                    are these aftermarket manifolds?

                    Oo___oO

Ive always been concerned with E85 and not being able to find a servo, even though there is a united with E85 about 5 mins from my house. Coyote is considered a god amongst many 86/BRZ groups, so i wouldnt bother with anyone else. Whilst this is my first brand new car, id like to keep the factory warranty and capped price services, but all that goes out the window with FI so i might get the headers, over pipe, and E85 tune, and see how it goes. What is a rough price on the tune for these mods, if i install myself?

The torque dip isnt much of an issue if you are changing gears around 7,000 RPM, as the next gear usually starts above it. While on daily duties, the torque dip helps stay under the speed limit.

Tune would be under 1k. Headers $800 and filter $60. Cars tend to pick up more power after a good flogging and some Ks. Mine is at 23k now.
I changed diff gears to 4.556 from 4.1 for extra perkiness. Torque dip is not something that needs to be worried about now. Rpm limit is 7600.
I actually think it's a great package for the outlay but most still can't accept an na 86 would be even remotely interesting.

Was asking as had the same problem on E85 at EC. Have had the pump swapped to a DW pump but haven't been back to the track to test it as I'm still waiting to get E85/98 sorted.

I get fuel starvation out of turn 12 at PI when below 3/4 tank on semis every single time. It's the saddle tank and pickup on passenger side, pump change won't fix it unless you're modifying the setup ?

Been running only E85 on stock system for ages, it's a pain sometimes but nothing a jerry or 4 can't solve.

Perhaps when your changing pumps, change to a holley hydramat pickup at the same time.

In Sydney there used to be a Caltex one 5-10 mins max from EC. So you could do a session with a full tank, burn thru 20L, drive down, fill up and back for the next session. Cunts took E-Flex away from that servo so now it looks like 5 jerry cans for a track day.
