I think you will find they have limited capacity to build them. So its about maximising profit per unit sold.

At 1800 per year they will be selling more than twice the number of MX5s sold here a year

You won't be able to untick things like all the curtain airbags and DSC because in Vic they are I think now a legal requirement. All all those ads with the guy with glasses telling everyone not to buy cars if they don't have DSC, curtain airbags and 5 star safety means all the safety stuff will stay.

Seat heater is high grade model only, base model spec is otherwise pretty bare bones - no climate control, though does have LSD. Cruise/Airbags/Power everything is pretty standard these days. Could be interesting.
cruise, HIDs/DRLs and LSD are not common standard features at this price range by any means. For a car that was supposed to be fairly basic this is a lot higher-spec'd than i thought it would be - not that im complaining as if i get one of these it will be the daily

Also worries me that core target seems to be males 35-49, average household income $150k/annum. If you hit that target market, you've fucked up your pricing.
        fixed.

I had a look through the dealer brochure/guide a couple of weeks ago when we picked up our new Corolla.

All the sales guys I've spoken to at the dealer, including the manager all reckon its going to be under $40k....

Can't take anything for gospel, but these guys seemed pretty adamant....

Correct me if I'm wrong but those power and power to weight graphs in the brochure look way off. If the 86 has 147 killerwasps why is the Golf GTI graph lower when it has 155 kw. The RX8 also looks to be wrong. This does not add up... More marketing spin?

                golf weighs 1360, 86 is 1180.

                The maths isn't wrong.

The power part of the graph is stuffed - indicates about 170 kw.

1180kg is a bit optimistic, i think that is for the stripper model which aint coming here

Regardless, it does have a better pwr/wt than the GTi or RX8 or XR5 turbo, in fact its pretty much lineball with the Golf R and Mini Cooper Works

I don't think Prelude and Celica buyers were 35-49 and male. Sounds like they're after the latte set, except they wouldn't be seen in a non-European car. Idiots!
