RX8's are not exactly attractive, but that's a matter of opinion I suppose.
I think releasing it as a low powered vehicle is a great idea, people will still buy it because it is balanced blah blah blah and then the Japanese and US aftermarket will go batshit on it and you'll be able to buy everything for it you could ever want.
