I love 'verts, I just think they should be soggy old cruisers rather than sports cars

Sure you're not necessarily going to make track day cars out of them (although some do), but for the average driver, I doubt they're going to tell the difference between a convertible and hardtop version.

I'm sure I look gay as fuck driving my MX5 top down (especially wearing my rainbow coloured head scarf) but honestly I don't give a shit.

Small, light RWD is awesome. Can't wait for the 86.

Sports car definition ": a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving"

No mention of a roof. But interestingly a FT86 isn't a sports car (seats 4)

yeah it seats 4 the same way a Supra seated 4

it was fun at night but i'd still have preferred a GT6.

the whole "top down during summer" thing is a big crock imo, you just get hot and sunburnt!

True - happened to me in Dad's Healey 3000. Thats why you always have a hat with you.

But there are some epic European summer drives that would suit a nice classic.

you're right, but i still find i drive 90% of the time with the top up, but on a clear night/full moon or around dusk it's perfect with the top down. when laid out like that, i guess on balance i'd prefer a coupe.

Hired a Z28 Camaro Convertible in Hawaii in the 90s with my brother and did a lap around the island etc in it and it was a great drive.
                    Skids helped ungay it though.

First one in the showroom around here (north Osaka) has been there since last Sunday but couldn't get a pic until now.

Tom's are also planning to release a supercharger for it next year:

... as well as a ECU upgrade, throttle body kit, LSD etc

What size wheels are those? The arches seems to monster them. The one I saw in the flesh here also had crap wheels and a crap exhaust. I noticed the same thing, massive arches and small wheels, big exhaust hole in the rear bumper and a tiny pee shooter. I guess These two items are changed pretty much straight away on most jap car so they didn't put too much effort/cost into them.

Car also looks a little too high. Seems aimed at tuners for sure. Almost a typical 90 jap car feel with the typical mods needed to improve it.

base wheels are 16" but they look like shit that shouldn't even grace a Kia

those wheels would look ok if they were 2-3" bigger, and real thin tyres, with the car lowered enough so you can juuuuust see the top of the rim

I reckon the small wheels look good in the pic - puts me in mind of an Elise.

16s... it's the GT spec one afaik. It's because they wanted to keep the list price as low as possible, sell a very basic model then show the customer a 50 page options list.

Are they in showrooms over there?
