I've stayed at the Best Western Centretown a few times http://centretown.bestwestern.com.au/

There's new bits but you can get older rooms for just over $100.

I've done the alpine, was cheap enough, we stayed there precisely long enough to sleep, shower and gtfo so not a big deal. Not the swankiest joint in town, but ok, and within walking distance of urban goulburn.

THe place near the southern exit to the hume is the trappers inn. Was pretty nice, but worked out at least double the price of the alpine (alpine was 70ish for a twin, about 1fiddy for the trappers) when went with my dad, and the restaurant on site was not exactly cheap.

Also stayed at the clinton lodge before, bit nicer than the alpine heritage. Basic, within staggering distance and clean.

Looks like Thursday 28th is popular. I'm heading down myself from Sydney for a few tyre screeching, body rolly laps in the 2 tonne, silver Turbo Taxi!

            The 2 places to go;
            1. Bakehouse - best basic accommodation with THE BEST breaky joint out the front + extras i.e. their own bakery with everything you could imagine to eat for breaky + petrol accross the road + close to track. Has a super cheap 7 or 8 person room down the back with just beds and a sink in it if you are on a budget.
            2. Best Western Centretown - getting a bit fancy these days, but still has a few cheap rooms. Good for car trailers. Can easily up-spec room to full 'rub-n-tug stylz spa bath rooms with viewing of spa bath from lounge via glass into said spa bath shower area'..... or so i have been told

Alpine Heritage is about as cheap as they come, reasonably basic but quite clean and comfortable.

Within walking distance of pubs / food / Woolworths / pretty much everything and great trailer parking area.

I usually stay at the Bakehouse. I was there last night.

Mention you are going to Wakefield and they will give you their lowest tariff.

I had bedbugs in my bed in alpine heritage last weekend.
Was like mozzies biting your ankles.

Slept on top of blankets for the win.

Schnitzel in Goulburn Workers was tops.

                              fucking this x 11ty!

the bakehouse is awesome, in fact ive stayed there over best western.
best western is best if you get a group of about 5 or more.

the Astor hotel is a fantastic place to eat! pretty much eat there every time i go to wakefield.
ribs are good, pizza is good (wood fired oven), steak is good, burgers are good, fajitas are great.
prices are very reasonable (like under $20 for a decent steak)
