I think it varies state to state, and NSW changed it recently so no written off car can get rego. Thou i think they need to take another look at the rule and adjust it, eg a car like this that has been stripped out should never be able to get rego, yet a Vt commonwhore that has a busted bumper and broken head light should be able to rego

Sounds like to much effort/to risky to get involved with the car again after stripping it.
            nope. old old scam.
if you want to know who stole it, try and bid on the wreck at the auctions. A cousin will come and tap you on the shoulder and tell you to stop bidding or else.

Parts will just go in a container overseas where they give no fark about laws and roadworthiness.

Years back one of my old man's best mates owned Brookvale Spares, and he found buying written off rexxies for his yard near impossible: cars that were little more than balled up wrecks went for stupid money as all the swede's wanted was the engine number and VIN. He got warned re bidding against these cunts too I think...

                              This.

A few AFP in the crowd doing some bidding. When you win the bid and walk off down the alley and the cousins follow you, the innocuous black vans parked off to the side start to unload armed AFP officers.......

                              Would be hella awesome.
