Ute tray liners, or that paint stuff.

Looking for a tray liner for the ute, but most of the ones out there seem to be ~$600 for a bit of blow moulded plastic. Lack of options probably doesnt help either.

Thinking about my other options and i remember there was some product in the US which was like a hammer finish, but also rubberised and UV stable. Anyone know what it was?

Or failing that anyone know where to get a cheap tray liner for a dualcab Hilux?

i have seen plastic tray liners destroy the paint under the lining from rubbing. also, i have seen 'spray on' tray liners start peeling off and looking disgusting. i vote don't line it with anything or sell and buy a tray back.

The paint is already pretty rooted from only having one of the rubber mats. Was going to paint with POR15 and then put the liner over the top. If it manages to rub through that ill be amazed.

Tripper: nice find, i dont know half of those smaller places. TJM was $550 and ARB was $600.

All the manufacturers here get their liners made by one company, I forget the name.
The over rail liners will rub through the paint on the outside of the tub unless you heavily tape underneath, the under rail liners leave the top of the bed exposed. The liners should be bonded/screwed/whatevered down to prevent them moving or they're useless for paint protection.
Fact is, anything will fuck the tub, the best thing about a liner is when you come to sell it, throw another one in and it looks schmick and hides the rub through.

what are you throwing in the back? if its something that will scratch/ rip the surface ,then get a plastic liner.

                POR15 do a spray on bedliner. POW-R-Liner - http://www.por15.com/POW-R-LINER-KIT/productinfo/PLBK/

Personally, I'd never use a drop in liner, I've seen too many trays rusted out beneath them.

If the paint is already rooted, why worry about it. If the tray isn't trashed, it isn't a real ute...

You can paint this on with a brush. Ive used it a lot and it's very durable.

The spray on liners are the shit. A workmate had his hilux done by these guys. http://www.xtremecoatings.com.au/ The coating is tough as and seals it preventing rust.

Was going to ask where our work vehicles got done at and suggest it.

We have a D22 up here (Kakadu) on site and in the number of years it has been here, no issues at all. It stands up to the climate, and also regular high pressure cleaning etc etc.

Rhinolinings did our work ute and, as being a dirt bike magazine, our ute cops plenty of knocks/bikes/fuel cans/metal load ramps/tool boxes/etc. In 12 months of use it hasn't chipped or broken off, hasn't scratched down to metal either.

                            Top shit, in my opinion.
