Touchy subject - engine failure on dyno

faults or problems sometime happen through no fault of anyone. if you have taken due care and done 100% what you thought was right. you can only say that and the person has to take the cost. feel free to give them a hand, but my conscience would be clean.
but as i said earlier i would be getting every customer to sign a disclaimer as soon as it hits the workshop floor and have it in writing on the wall or something.Originally posted by 50RTDDave, have you uploaded the data from the carby?

should have corrected that. not interested in big HP anymore... 2x20b rebuilds later the wallet starts to hurt!!
at the end of the day I'm the stubborn fucker who wanted to ditch the radiator and blaze a trail of my own using water and methanol... Its bitten me in the arse twice already but i didnt have a decent computer back then or CDI so now I'd like to think we've brought the a-game to the table this time.Toys List

i did read it, perhaps you didn't note the careful selection of the quote text - you had an angry NA engine with a dodgy ECU, after rebuilding and turbo-ing it your tuner fixed the ECU, you then ran it for a year and included some racing, you then went to tune it for better boost control and found lots of sad in the engine.you cant read very well can you , it was n/a then , when it went turbo the tuner picked the injector prob up within minutes and it was rectified on the very initial dynotune after it was turbo'd (engine had been fully rebuilt again and decompressed)
What's the confusion? You put a used engine under maximum load and some bits in it failed. My suggestion is that they were probably damaged by the faulty ECU and by taking the motor up to a sustained and rising peak power point, those damaged bits failed.
edit: your ignition problem may not have been that (a problem) - the high-boost missing may have been lean events courtesy of the ECU and by upgrading the ignition system you were able to better ignite those lean instances.

found that problem today with the fuel pump... good ecu's make my life easy these days.. with the old setup would have missed it and maybe cost another engine...Originally posted by bernie-rx7 View Postshould have corrected that. not interested in big HP anymore... 2x20b rebuilds later the wallet starts to hurt!!im a cunt

for sure, I was much more worried about AFR's been ok and light throttle driveability then peak power, dalecunt delivered.
Having 11ty billion hp and a tune that's teetering on the edge is only going to end in tears for the average punter.

It's already been mentioned several times but what were the AFR's on each cylinder? Because the engine damage indicates they were inconsistent which indicates uneven air/fuel flow between cylinders.
Until that is addressed I can't see the point of this thread.Richard's DatsunZ lappin LakesidZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47OSh...&feature=g-upl

and its already been mentioned that the ecu had bad drivers and should probably be removed and replaced with something else..Originally posted by 260DET View PostIt's already been mentioned several times but what were the AFR's on each cylinder? This is why I try and get my engines built and tuned by the same company.
Autotech have always built and tuned my engines.
The good thing is he warrants his work.
Build and tune then he lets you drive it like you normally would.
After the first service its retuned and then drive it hard.MK7 Golf R 11.3@123.9mph. still working at getting into the 10s

1.) I don't understand why anyone would spend $30K on a swift gti
2.) I don't understand how a gti with $30K spent on it makes 210hp
3.) I don't understand how someone who "buys top quality parts only" uses a Microshit to manage it all.
I don't think it's anyones fault - it just happens.
move on.
maybe sit back and think if rebuilding another gti is really worth it.
jesus.. $30K

I had a mate with an e30 (that red one with an s50 in it you did the headers on dale) and the last engine was an m52 S/C - for some reason it had a delco ecu .. one day the ecu up and left, and took the engine with it. Its a touchy who's at fault subject.
However, there is a price you pay for modifying cars, unfortunately. I'd just expect some help towards fixing it, cheapish labour perhaps. I mean that's what I'd do in my industry. I'm not always needed to help fix a problem, but I do all the time none the less. Its good business.Originally posted by psssi98I'm not down for crossing swords in the mud. :p
