    Pics: Legends at LeMans

From the 24Hr weekend. (I posted some more pics of boring modern stuff over in the LM thread)

The 'LeMans Legend' race was Sat morning, awesome all-out action with lots of priceless historic LM cars and old drivers, including Stirling Moss in a Porsche RS61...
See page with race info/entries etc here . There's also yewtewb links on that page to the whole race in 3 parts...this is an absolute must-see!

Anyway, I watched most of the race on the big screen in the viplodge and didn't make it into the historics parc until Sunday a.m., when a lot of the old dudes had already shot through, but I managed to shoot one or two pics and chat to a few of the blokes about their cars...If and when I'm back there for the 24Hr, I'll make this a priority!

Indubitably my favourite in the paddock, David Piper's 1964 Prototype 365 P2! Looks sweet as, even though it's 'unfortunately not very reliable' at the moment, according to Mrs Piper whom I chatted with for a while, in the absence of her hubby. He only managed 1 lap of the race... but anyway the car's a stunner:

Some beautiful metal there, for all the other advancements we have made we still haven't really improved much if any on the aesthetic side of sportscars.

Then there was the LeMans Museum !
There were just to many cars to photograph, and my canera battery died by the end of the exhibit...

The 'affiche' for the 1st LM 24Hr, in 1923. Bought a reproduction of this in the museum shop...

Awesome stuff! Pretty sure that yellow 250LM is also David Piper's.

I went to the museum last year. So much history. Unfortunately I was there 3 days before the race and couldn't stay

I've chatted with David Piper on many an occasion as they come out to South Africa each year for the annual historic race meeting..... they bring out some truly awesome machines... The matra pictured above came out a few times, it sounds mental!!
