It doesn't take a lot of effort or a lot of money to make an SE hammer.

You can also call on the Mazda GTX/GTR Familia (ie BP-T) parts bin for quite a bit of stuff if you want to go DIY Turbo. It's possible to get chinese cooler/piping kits, manifolds and turbo (or BYO Turbo) plus some for of ECU into them for under $5K DIY.

      Nopics NB8B is below... it's a 2001, but there's a lot of NB8C marked parts in them.

It's small stuff like the quality of the carpets and seat trim, and the plastic bits tend to fade faster (eg the cap at the top of the B pillar). Of course this is largely offset by them being younger.

As the cliche goes, the NB is a better car, the NA is a better MX-5. I hate that quote though, it sounds like an excuse for excessively oversteery handling.

          But oversteer is "fun"

I'm regretting doing the same, but to be honest a few bucks towards a piggyback ecu or a standalone is not exactly something you think about. They are about the same as standard MX5's anyway, just with a few more options and go fast bits

There better be a fiery hell of scorn about to be poured on the owner of this car due to the oversize Swedish wheels

No surprises that I reckon it looks the business

I would agree there... the NB carpets are cheapy, plasticy moulded shite. I will definitely be replacing mine with a decent aftermarket carpet.

I love the Nardi airbag wheel and am happy mine is in good nick after finding out above that they cost $1000 to replace!

I actually like the fact that it is all black inside and doesnt have chintzy chrome highlights and door handles like the NA does. It's not a fucken MGB. I dont like how it has navy blue instruments on a copper/evo gold car. Definitely going white face gauges there.

Even when you fuck up when driving these things it's pretty forgiving. I hammered into a roundabout (on a road that I should know better) and forgot that it goes off camber on exit, so it snapped around at the rear but was able to be corrected without it turning into a tank-slapper and I know it wasnt my skill (or lack of it) so it had to be the car, heheh.

Hardtops - im not that fussed about open-top motoring, and as Aarons pic shows i reckon they make the car look better so one of these would be on the list for sure

Still available new? I see from rorges thread you can get CF ones

Aaron and Bitey - what size wheels are they?

Even if they are, you'd be a tool to buy a new hardtop. Readily available 2nd hand for $1000 - $1500. Then paint your colour.

Mine are 18" Lenso SHU's. Made from recycled dog food cans I assume and weigh a tonne, causing the car to lock up pretty easily when gettin up it (no ABS). But yeah at least I'm honest enough theyre on there purely for pose value, and because these things look fucking gay on small wheels unless theyre some esoteric JDM rare superlights.

Mind you I want a dark green with tan NA with all the shiny shit known to man on it

I think for a daily the nb would be better. More of a modern car feel, and feels more powerfull too. And you don't need to go bigger than 15's. I have 15x9's and they fit perfect and fill the guards too.

Pic of the 15x9 6ul wheels on my old car.

I make the c.f hardtop, here is a bare one with clearcoat. Weigh 2.2 kg's, but for a daily i would go with a factory one.
