who would want to do a RWC at the old price when you can do a service etc and get paid far more per hour...Vicroads is a bit on the thick side.
I don't care a damn for your loyalty when you think I am right; when I really want it most is when you think I am wrong.

Aparently the new regs have come about because tester have been slack with checking engine / VIN numbers. Some cars needs parts removed to get at the numbers, so rather than checking the numbers, the testers have been going off the rego label I guess.

The cost of a book of 100 Roadworthy certificates remains the same, which is $400 for 100 certificates.

Just Booked the gemmy in for an RWC on Monday.

I want to get it on Club plates asap.

I asked the guy what the deal was and he said from Sept he is raising his price from $100 to $149, has to take heaps of photo's, stolen checks, Vass Cert checks (engineers reports), Test for illegal tint levels on all glass with some expensive tool that he has to buy.

        He isn't happy about it!

He doesn't give a fuck about charging more but he is pissed about all the extra work and having to buy more equipment.

Hopefully I can get this rwc done quick smart so I don't have to worry about it after the Sept deadline.

As if mechanics didnt have enough to do already . Im fucking pissed at the amount of fucking paperwork I have to do already . Seems for every 5 hours spent on a car there is 1 hour of paperwork involved !

And there goes another of your civil liberties in modifying a car !
You guys can complain about Nazi Germany being bad , at least they didnt have the Gestapo pulling you over for being too low or driving too fast !
I wanna do 8s bruv! Without no stinkin' POWERCHIP

Id rather have a rock in my shoe when hikin' than have a POWERCHIP in my car when racin'

A September deadline gives me a bit of time to get the VX in order.

I'm house sitting in Yarraville at the moment so I've gone to a local mechanic there...
Normally I use my step-uncle but he only does rwc on petrol cars - no lpg... so even if I wanted to use him for the gemmy I can't.

                He is in Croydon:

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I'd hate to play the devils advocate here, but it all sounds like common sense to me.

I cant believe some people find it so offensive that mechanics are being asked to do their job properly. The big losers out of this are the dodgey cunts.

                        I checked again today.

This bloke says the average RWC will be over $200. Closer to $250.

I heard it on the radio, 3AW rumour file a few days ago and the guy said $200 - $300 per car.

So that is 2 separate sources.

Now the IT required is not onerous to those who are in the know but to some of these guys who are not IT literate and are getting stirred up by mobs selling massively expensive systems to do something a basic PC can do and everything stored on the Cloud or secure server.

If it is your livelihood at stake, you tend to react badly and get hooked into these expensive systems.

So the $4 sheet has not changed, just the infrastructure is expensive when these quick buck IT companies stir the pot.

So there it is. VicRoads have a habit of dropping these bomb shells and everyone has to jump.

What the affect of this on used cars will be is anyone's guess but I think there will be a lot of cars under $1000 and then a massive jump to $5k - 7k and not much in between.

one must ask if all this has a real effect on road safety

which is what its all about right?

                              either
1)means you are less likely to buy car without RWC (or harder to sell, without dropping price)

                              2) or more unroadworthy cars and cheaper as people too tight.

at those big roadside checks (1000+ cars), the cops still get 10+ un-registered, lots of un-roadworthy, seat belts etc.

surely better and more cost effective?!? maybe
