Was this driving down the Centenary Highway last night? If so, it sounds pretty bloody unreal in the flesh

ps: Yes, it's kinda loud too :p But it's loud in a very very manly way :p

Good on both of you for taking the mature approach, it's not going to hurt you to get your car legal anyway. $450 now is cheaper and less hassle than a defect later.

Yes, I'm sure if he keeps getting woken in the morning that he'll never cause any trouble at all. He'll be ok with it because he'll be able to dry his tears on the piece of paper that an exhaust shop gave you that says one part of your car is legal. No pissed off neighbour would ever try to cause trouble in other ways.

Anyway I hope the new exhaust works ok. Fingers crossed that it makes enough of a difference to keep the guy happy. Is the exhaust place giving you a written guarantee that it will pass noise measurement?

I'll get them to retest it when it's fitted up and give me a report. If it's over the limit or I'm not happy with it then Simon said he would sort it out.

Agree. Bloke has a problem, has come to speak to you and in doing so has treated you with respect. You're doing the right thing in return. I currently have good neighbours and it makes the world of difference. Previous druggie cunty neighbour made life hard, so I appreciate what I have and live accordingly.

if not already mentioned, I'd take the initiative and go and tell the guy you've had the exhaust quietened down and hope that it doesn't wake him any more (before he has a chance to notice).

It then makes it a harder for him (if he was genuine about his original complaint) to then complain again about the noise because he'll come across as an even more whiny (and ungrateful) cunt.

Props to you for being super uncunty. I would ask him to contribute some $$ though.

Jumping off your house into the pool looks like fun too!

For new cars the limit is 90dB, not certain but there may be an allowance for pre-ADR whatever cars of 9xdB.

At 96dB it is still 4 times as loud as a current new car is permitted to be.

My 94 Camaro has stock factory exhaust and is 97dB at 4800 rpm, but that is under the 98dB US legal limit at the time. My neighbours don't particularly like me using the camaro early in the mornings.

Simon thinks that the 2.25" pipes and hotdogs will help with that too by reducing the resonance.

I'd go around after, tell him thanks for coming to talk to you first, show him the receipts and the test showing that the car is now legal and that should be the end of it.

                            Yep.
Either the guy will think you're pretty reasonable and you can continue playing happy neighbours, or he'll think you're a door mat. Most likely the former since he approached the issue in a non-cuntish way.

Getting on with your neighbours FTW. Next time I move I'm sussing out the neghbour's first. Sux living next to cunts.

90dB @ how many RPM - 4800? Is this a national standard, or does each state have their own code?

its the reading at 2/3rds of max revs for std vechile... IIrc....

so it would be 96db at 2/3 0f 5500rpm and its not take it to 2/3's and hold it. its a like a blip throttle test. I am sure covert or someone will know more then me
