Assist neighbour in double glazing his window.

It wont cost eleventy billion. You can get 'double glazings' made up in a similar fashion to flyscreens, that just sit over the top but on the inside. I saw them years ago when I was in sydney staying at a mates apartment on the princes highway. Cut noise down to nothing.

Why dont you go over and knock his teeth in, and when he comes to you to get them fixed you make the car even louder.

Thou on a serious note perhaps try backing it and see if that makes a difference, and speak to him each step of the way and trial it for a week or 2 before making any changes

If you can also somehow figure out how to suck as much air out of the space between the panes of glass it'll also help cut down on the noise transferred.

I'd offer him something like that, as you have a legal car with regard to noise - technically you don't have to do anything but an offer to help would be good. Keeping good relations with the neighbours is important.

                  This.

Although I have cunt neighbours that 'started it', so whenever I have a job interview in Sydney lately, and have to leave at 0436 (on the dot) the car gets a limiter check with the exhaust facing their bedroom window.

My cool neighbours also dislike cunt neighbours, and although it wakes them up, they tolerate it because they understand, and think it's slightly amusing.

It's dangerous to drive with a non-functioning limiter so I'm just checking it in the name of safety...

Farken hell that would drive me nuts.

I did night shift for a few months and the hardest thing was coming home at 6-7am and then trying to get to sleep with everyone going to work (lived in a block of flats so could hear everyone man and his dog coming and going).

Didnt help that one of my neighbours had a VS ute with not so legal side pipes-was odd when I didnt see that wearing a canary lol.

OP at least the guy had the guts to come and talk to you about it, I'd be more open to suggestions to try and find a solution then having someone drop a nameless letter in the box. Hopefully you sort something out.

I've got 400cpsi cats, twin mufflers and a rear resonator on the TS50, so it's not that loud and is easily 'legal' from the outside. When you go inside while the car's idling you can hear the reverberation throughout the entire house and see the kitchen windows shake! I'm guessing it's the displacement and compression.

The guy was reasonable and came to speak to you in person, without resorting to passive-agressive notes and complaints to the council. He sounds like a good neighbour to keep happy, I agree with the suggestions to work with him to find a solution.

to me 5:30 is pretty early and would be annoying. if you were sitting warming it up that would be pretty rude.

My flatmate rides a Ducati with Termi exhausts and the neighbours 3 doors down mentioned it to me and now he is a bit quieter on it. its polite to say something i think.
