Don't forget to pack your lights! I'll see you there in the little E30.
I wouldn't want it setup too taily, toe out on the rear scares me, but I'm in a RWD. Keep it settled and work up to it. Even when I only had 100hp I still found EC to be a very enjoyable track (the straight was pretty boring though).

back off BEFORE you turn in at turn 1, not during turn 1! Back off the first few times until you get confident in how much grip you have. If you lift off half way through turn 1 there's a good chance you'll lose it and end up in the gravel at 200kph.
Turn 2 can be treated as one long continuous corner or two separate corners (double apex) depending on your style and car setup. Everyone hates it and no matter what you do it won't feel right.
Turn 3 is off camber and over a crest but it's usually slippery enough to give you loads of warning. Turn 9 is for some reason the most likely place to have a spin when "out the back". Thankfully it's a low speed corner and rarely results in damage.
Turn 4 goes downhill and around into turn 5 and you can fucking nail it due to the on camber, but it's deceptive so be careful the first few times until you got it sussed.
turn 10 and 11 cut the shit out of the ripplestrips.
turn 12 coming onto the straight is slightly uphill and easy to get the car dancing around which while a huge amount of fun will wash a lot of speed off and put you on the outside ripplestrip on the straight. Better off to ease it onto the straight and nail it than do a big powerslide across the top end of the track.
It's a good long fast circuit that rewards good handling and high speeds rather than bulk horsepower. Bulk horsepower really helps though
oh, and there's a couple of understeery corners so I'd be inclined to leave it a little tail happy. If you're running a rear wing it might be enough to keep the arse down on turn 1 but turn 2, 3 and 9 will need some care.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

with 1.10's at wakie,
Id aim for 1.56 at EC first go
get an instructor
wouldnt be suprised if you could get to 1.52 - 1.50
my 75rwkw fagmobile does 1.56 and does 1.13 around wakie
but as others said - get an instructor - makes a world of difference
turn 2 shits me but I think I have it right. it works for me for a very late apex. unsure what fwd would do?www.unigroup.com.au

I wouldn't bother with instructors when he's already clearly a competent driver. Just pick someone faster and follow them. It isn't a hard track to learn.
My VN V6 auto (bilstiens/DO1J's) did 2:03 and my 7MGTE Crown road car did 2:05.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

I still get instructors when I can Jimbo - nothing like fine tuning and getting some new advice - always helps.
or you might think you are doing good, or the person infront you are following is doing good, and then get a few pointers from an instructor and find out different ways that are quicker.
never hurts.www.unigroup.com.au

do they still run the old original track? or has the new configuration changed it all completely? i know there's north and south and gp (like the old OP circuit) but can you still run the original circuit or is that gone?
I see people doing some times recently that don't seem right compared to what i was seeing a couple of years ago. maybe these people are just slow

I've not been to either in my car since 2007, but I could only manage 1.11 at Wakefield, but 1.52 at Eastern Creek.Originally posted by evil_weevil View Postwith 1.10's at wakie,

^ I fucked up a bit at Wakefield and only started using 2nd in the fish hook and the final turn during the last race of the weekend. Might have been another second in it I reckon. Hard to know. Must get back there. The most dangerous risk of all - the risk of spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later. - Randy Komisar.

I find that people generally go quicker at Wakefield as it is less daunting than EC with plenty of run off etc, but everyones different.Social media marketing for the automotive industry (plus a motorsport blog) - www.boxthislap.com.au

Fag, ya hold it flat through turn one, then hit the brakes at the 80 marker into turn two.Originally posted by Jim View Postback off BEFORE you turn in at turn 1, not during turn 1!
