I only raced 4 times this year (all interstate meetings except for Bathurst) due to becoming a father just over a year ago, but one thing I know is the car won't cost much sitting there so it will be there when you feel like doing a day. You will get time to do stuff, you just have to negotiate play time with the boss. Congrats too BTW! If you are only doing local stuff, I reckon you will still get to play - but you will choose when you want to do it as being at home will be the priority.
A slow day at the track is better than any day in the office.

4 race meets this year already Chris? :p

haha thank you for the congrats!
I have only done one interstate meet and that was in 2010 and I dont see it happening so you are right, would all be local meets, mostly wakefield.
            thanks for the advice mate!

I thought about this but when I went to a meeting it looked like karting was mainly a sport for 10-15 year old kids? Most of the races were full of kids with their dads pushing or working on their karts for them. It didn't look like it would be that great for 30year olds to get into, not from a social side anyway (where as car racing is mainly all adults)? Do you just end up racing against 12yo kids and getting beaten by the next junior lowndes or whatever?

Juniors and seniors are different classes, the break happens at 16 or used to.

As if the average starter is going to come right in and win. Its just about the fun in my books not being Terry Fullerton.

I was still on holidays.......my only excuse You should be planning to do more interstate meetings!! That said, my son was at Bathurst at 4 months old and saw the Merc SLS GT car's first lap at EC a month or two later. I went to Lakeside and PI solo though - the longer trips are hard when they are little....unless of course your child sleeps! Keep your gear, you will have a couple of quiet years but then you'll get time to get back into it.

Knowing the car you have, it will not be easy to replace down the road if you want to get back into it. Also, money allocated to toys, spent on houses, kids, holidays ect rarely returns to the toy fund.
