FWIW the car I saw crash actually sheared the roundabout sign off at its base - the sign itself was halfway down the embankment. I suppose in this particular case the car still steered and braked but...I dunno. Front end shunt, I'd be making sure I still had a radiator and wasn't about to have a cut tyre.
if it moves it's good to go... the car will let you know whats wrong with it eventually.

I drove the rally car up straight up 3 foot bank in 2005 at 30 + km/hr at a T junction.. 1st stage of the rally@ night... picked reverse, drove back off the bank, drove flat to out the end of stage. got under lights in the service park- had about 25 mm toe out- fixed that in about 5 minutes and got it down 10 mm with a tape measure, had to change a tyre cos the there was 1/2 a footy field of grass between the rim and tyre... drove the rest of the rally without looking at a thing..

Bay stages 08 went off the road- up on two wheels twice at 100 ish... drove 20 km as fast as I could without looking at it- steering was fucked, no pt stopping. had a 30 second look at the end of stage- drove another stage or two, got used to it, pulled wheels off at service everything was still there- just moved around.... . did some more stages. then went off at 100 km/hr into a clearing at night due to Coffin brain fart, drove out and kept going , last stage- hit 2 trees with the front of the car- reverse, drive out... finish stage- spot lights hanging off etc.. ended up 14th outright out of 60 odd cars... fun times...

Walking back to the car we noticed the front number plate and bits of the front bumper from the run away car sitting on the road, picked it up and handed it in to the cops. Would of been great to see the face of the driver when he realised he left his number plate behind!
I had a similar thing happen to me. Rear ended by a woman in a Rav4, she reversed back and drove off, leaving a chunk of her bumper bar including her number plate jammed between the now crumpled towbar and the rear bumper of the car.

I remember once seeing this old guy driving an 80s Toyota Crown which must've hit something because the rear axle was so far out of alignment the car was going sideways in a straight line..
