Dude get off the bandwagon. Seriously. If you can't come up with a sensible argument, you're just as bad as the "zomg crush the baby killers' cars" brigade. Rant and rave as much as you like, but so far you're just babbling shit.

Whoever asked if registration is also suspended when the plates are taken, at the very least there would be some kind of warning placed on the vehicle because there is provision to confiscate the vehicle indefinitely for a subsequent offence after the plates have been taken.

so this contrasts with qld by having a 5km/h difference on the auto confiscation of license (but we get 6 months iirc), 1 less chance and no impounding?

keep up the good work fellas, suck my balls.

            1. Get caught hooning and get pulled over
            2. Officer removes plates from vehicle
            3. Jump in car and drive off
            4. When stopped again, just say you lost your plates. Technically it's true.

Sorry missed the loud exhaust in the proposed legislation.

BTW, I don't agree with the proposed legislation

I would interested to so see what percentage of Police Pursuits and Over 45km involve stolen cars, as these laws will have no effect in those cases.
I think these laws for over 45km and police pursuits are already covered well enough by existing laws.
Seem as if they are throwing the over 45km and police pursuit lines in, to help legitimise the laws for very loose and open to interpration "street racing" and "hoon" terms.

its just the state govt. window dressing... looking like they're "doing something" that results in not much while overlooking more pressing affairs

I don't know the figures but I would guess at a dozen over 45's a day in NSW from non stolen cars

In 2011, there were 1781 police pursuits and in the same year police commenced 3079 legal actions for high-range speeding offences.
Not far off, Chuck (assuming high-range speeding = 45+km/h)

I reckon there is a difference between "having a loud exhaust" and "deliberately driving in a way that makes your exhaust loud"... the later probably deserves to be punished on some level.

you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

Exactly. I could think of a dozen more important issues that the law/poice should be addressing.
