I had a look at these the other day and was impressed. I was really surprised to see you can only gt a 1.6 litre motor at the moment. I would have expected them to put the i30's 2 litre in at the very least.Originally posted by MexicanBatman View PostThose hyundais look like a great car, but I will not own another car with a smaller engine than my motorbike, my nopics will have to wait till they make a turbo version at least...I do not like V slicers.

Dunnit the 1.6 in question have more power than the I30 2.0?Originally posted by matt b View PostI had a look at these the other day and was impressed. Prolly cheaper to build it with a turbo & n/a version of the same powertrain; and the 2.0 probably wasn't appropriate for turboism.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

$15,990 driveaway 2011 manual i30s for pretty much any hundai dealer
story goes they have a 2.0 four as standard but they built a 1.6 for countries that have preferential tax on 1.6 or less so they brought it here as a price leader and now they have heaps of them
the 2.0 isn't a ball of fire but i imagine the 1.6 would be fine for people not interested in M1 300 membership
1.6 4 spd auto would be troublingOriginally posted by boxxx

A quick check of the stats reveals there's not a huge difference between the Veloster's 1.6 and the i30's 2.0. But, given it is around 100kg lighter, the extra 20NM would be handy.Originally posted by Forg View PostDunnit the 1.6 in question have more power than the I30 2.0?

i20 and i30 1.6 litre has 91kw and 156NM, weight 1115kg for the i20 and 1300kg for the i30.
Veloster 1.6 litre has 103kw and 166NM, weight 1265kg.
Elantra 1.8 litre has 110kw and 178NM, weight is 1289kg.
i30 2.0 litre has 105kw and 186NM, weight is 1360kg.I do not like V slicers.

Kelvinators aren't supposed to be fun, they're supposed to make shit cold & not be noticed otherwise.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Yet 30 years ago people were buying Commodore wagons with the 2.8, which had less power and about the same torque iirc, with a 3 speed auto and 2.8:1 diff and found the performance and economy was acceptable.Originally posted by T0nyGTSt View Post1,3 ton vs. 91kW and 156Nm

Don't bother trying to decide what car to get for the fuckbunny, you'll give her a list of decent cars and she'll probably ignore them all.

Ask her what cars she likes... then steer her to the best deal/car in that list. That's all you can do.

And takes 10.5 second to get to 100. That's Subaru's idea of progress.Originally posted by JZK25 View Post

Subaru off cards. Ugly as sin. Will try and talk her into 2008 corolla build # 183574675757869709827265. They work.Originally posted by BosshoggettIf your planing to drive this on the road and enjoy it, id suggest a second opinion, someone with a history in Australian Rally or Fink River . If she'll accept a Corolla & the old-person image that goes with it, then you could just as safely recommend a Mazda3 or Civic.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Really, is 10 sec 0-100 unacceptable for a base model Impreza? Blistering performance is not really on the cards. Subaru's idea of progress is active safety. All these other shitboxes use electronics for supposed safety and handling. Subaru uses that and the same shit they have for the last 20 years, traction. I wouldn't put my wife and family in anything else.Originally posted by rj_astra View PostAnd takes 10.5 second to get to 100. That's Subaru's idea of progress.
Cracka, 2008 corolla? I thought she wanted a new car. While a 4 year old corolla costs nearly as much as a new car, it isn't new and neither is any of it's features or technology.David Fraser - Automotive Historian!
