You think a car with 110kw would suffer from a lack of traction? Obviously Subaru doesn't believe its own hype. Witness the terribly unsafe BRZ.

lol - does anyone really beleive that toyota or ford or anyone who just makes ncap 5 fwd cars are really 'jeopardising the public'?

flip side is why have the driveline drag when its not necessary?

Isn't a 2008 Corolla the same as a new one, but half the price?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I spoke to some dealers about it. There's a perception that the Japanese made cars are better. They said there's not much in it.

350,000km, 13 years of being thrashed, 3 engines from running at 7000+rpm for the first 3 gears almost every time it has been driven for 6 years, parked in the sun since the day it was bought. 99 liberty with the v12 is still a tighter car than a 3 week old new commodore. No rattles, creaks, not one bit of broken anything, paint still decent, zero rust, panels all align like day 1, dash has no gaps, no plastic fallen off or is split etc. You cant tell me a mazda 6 for instance is the same when they are fucked after 3 years for all I see.

But as a general rule, most of the jap shit is an order of magnitude better than shit built here, africa, korea etc.

She should buy a swift or a Mazda 3 because not my car + chick + will trade in after warranty.

Buy impreza if she's going to give it to her kids in 20 years.

you know to get a extra star in the ncap rating some companies have just added a warning light ?

Back on topic my parents just got a I20 as a shopping hack, goes ok but i find the front leg room lacking width wise perhaps im just use to different cars and would adjust to it

My parents' 1998 Liberty GX is OK, but it's nothing super-duper special in terms of any of that stuff, not even compared to our '95 Commode with about the same number of kilometres.
I think you're looking at things through excessively rose-tinted glasses.

You think traction loss only occurs due to engine power?

Keep it in context dude, this is not a performance car, it's a base model chicks car. AWD prevents traction loss and not losing traction helps stop people running off roads in adverse weather and road conditions. Is this a revelation to you?

Ok Dude... All these little chick-mobiles have ESP/TC. That is quite adequate to modulate traction in adverse conditions. ESP is FAR better at stopping people run off the road than AWD. I assume this is a revelation to you.
