already using isofix seats for my two kids for years (since they were born). I don't need no government to tell me what is "acceptably" safe for my family.

Id love to do the same.. Does anyone know if i can get ISO for the meridian? Or would it be an import only job?

Doesnt matter either way.. If i have to import one ill give the current one to my oldies.. They wont have an ISO compatible car for 10+ years

We had a Meridian AHR for a long time (outgrown now) and it was always sliding around. Got a fair bit better after adding one of those clips in Boxer's diagram above but what worked really well in the end was putting a non-slip mat under it (leather seats didn't help the sliding problem at all).

I think I'll have another play with it tonight, and see if I can't rig something illegal up to make it better... :p

Current best idea is to move it to the middle of the car, and make sure it wedges between the front seats...

This is a good example of how our local regulations arent harmonised for vehicles, and how accepting equivalent standards from other jurisdictions would improve choice and reduce cost for consumers locally.

something tells me these stores have warehouses full of non isofix seats that would be rendered not that saleable after this...

why did it take 15 yrs to get harmonised anyway?

Haha, these were illegal? Lol. When I bought my Impreza in 06 the sales slut was all like 'oh, and look, it's got the ISOFIX points (pointing at them, and the ISOFIX sticker/logo on the seat), lots of European cars have them'.....I was like 'WTF are they for?', then found out it was baby seat crap and gave no further fuck.

Hilarious that Subawhore was making a big deal out of something I wouldn't have been able to use anyway.

because our AU design standards are so exacting, and far better than anything out of Europe....
besides, child seat safety is not an issue, because speed only kills if you are over the speed limit.

Disgraceful isn't it. So much focus on speed, at the cost of common sense

My amarok has 3 isofix points BUT no seats are available in Australia yet according to the seat installation guy at wyong hospital, and we have just bought another seat for the new baby.

You can't buy them locally and I presume won't be in any decent volume of them until 2013.

But... Oz standards for child seats etc were far in advance of Europe when they were first put in place. That's probably part of the issue.
If you have ISOFIX and the US LATCH then which standard do you choose?

ISOFIX and LATCH are the same pretty much but get the ISOFIX since we are ECE centric.
