Agreed that XR6Ts are pretty boring after awhile.
Had a BF XR6T 6 speed auto with all the Process West gear, Staggered rims for a tad more traction etc and other than blowing 99% of the cars away off the lights there pretty dull at everything else.
There great on a long trip and so on but not really inspiring to go for a spirited drive in.
I live about 10 minutes from Macquarie pass and in most of my previous cars i have always enjoyed going for a blat on the weekend (Datto 1600 with CA18DET, R32 GTS-T, Pug 205 GTi and now my V6 Mirage)
and i can honestly say i did it once in my XR6T.......That Kind of says what it was like at anything but fasts.
Havent had mine for about 12 months and dont miss it.
Having said that as a Family wagon it will do what you need for sure. Just be prepared that you may not be madly in love with it after awhile.I climbed Mt Druitt

Hmm, thanks for the advice. Food for thought.
An XR6T can't be any more boring than the nopics 2006 Corolla auto.
The other option would be to buy a weekend car for myself and get something a bit bigger for the nopics. Shes not overly keen on driving a car as big as a Falcon and only drives auto. Good thing she redeems herself in other areas.
I travel to the city each day by bus though so when I own cars they generally sit in the garage depreciating all week nd I usually get annoyed and sell them after a while.
Maybe I'll go test drive a couple over Easter and see if they do it for me. I had a mk vi GTI and even that bored me with a dsg. Maybe I'm bound to a life of boring cars until the little ones grow up. Then again it'll be hard to buy a manual car in another 5 -10 years.

That'll just force you to build one - with your little ones.Originally posted by Evaku8 View PostMaybe I'm bound to a life of boring cars until the little ones grow up. Then again it'll be hard to buy a manual car in another 5 -10 years.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

My nopics mentioned the other day that she doesn't like driving the Vectra...why not? Because it's automatic and the steering is too light so she doesn't feel like she's in control of the car. I thought she'd prefer the smaller, easier to drive one with better visibility but no, she'd rather drive the SS!

A worthy alternative to a used XR6T!Originally posted by WRXCunt View PostWhy not a 2nd hand FGSoft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback.
