True, although I'd bet if you asked a group of chicks to drive an i30 and a Mazda 3 back to back then asked them which one drove better, most would pick the 3. They probably couldn't explain why it drove better but they would still realise the Hyundai was a vague piece of crap.

I changed two water pumps on Mazda 3s last week and I have another one to do next Monday. I had never done one prior to that.

While on the topic, does anyone know where the A/C drain is under the car? One of the ones I service has a stinky A/C system and I can't see a drain pipe anywhere. I have already changed the pollen filter (another cunt of a job too).

or if you asked them what was the best value to suit their needs, they would go the hyundai. thats exactly why we did. missus gives no fark for which one drives the best. and our i30 doesnt handle bad and its not vauge at all, it just wasnt quite as firm or nimble as the old 2 (which was voted one of the best steerers in its class when released, so it doesnt say much). i like it coz its fucking torquey and goes heaps harder than the old mazda 2, its suspension is nice and soft, which goes well with the dirt roads and shit town roads i have to drive on. the stereo is awesome for a hyundai, they are well built, have 5 star ncap (with the extra airbags), and is piss easy to work on.

notice i didnt once mention being a good handler there? if that was a priority we would have bought a liberty wagon or something.

Nopics has a 08 sp23 hatch . She has had it since new, now its at 100,000 .
Its great on tyre wear, and I've only had to change the front pads so far at around 80,000.

The bose system pumps, and the leather seats are comfortable.

Had our sp23 hatch since new (bought 6 years ago) and it has been fairly trouble free. Only had to replace the shocks because the old ones were leaking, apart from that just regular servicing. Runs like a dream and it has been the best car we have owned.

We will be looking to sell it soon to upgrade to a wagon.

Nopics has an 07 Elantra Elite. Has fucking everything and isn't shit. Is also a sedan with massive bootspace and doesn't look too bad.

They're in the right price bracket too.

I drove a Maxx? Mazda 3 once.....and well all I can say is I'm suprised I remembered driving it really.

I think that whole class of car is the same though, I had a loner Mitsubishi lancer SX? This week, totally forgettable experience as well.


My MIL wants help buying a small car ATM, I said the Golf is probably the best car, but no she is set on a Cruise cos it's packed with goodies.

Service quite a few 3s and 6s. Can't think of any common problems. Only ever seem to do service/tyres/brakes on them. They're not very exciting but they do the job. We usually reccomend them to people looking for a smallish car

Pretty much what I was going to say. Ive got a 2010 Lancer and its great, you may be able to pick one up in auto in your price range too.

Forgot about the Mazda 6's.... Same motor as the SP23's aren't they? Even a few Libertys fit the bill as well....

We have an 07 model, the air con is absolutely piss weak compared to a 2000 Corolla.
Oh and Mazda will rape you to the tune of $435 for a new remote for what appears to be about $5
in Chinese electronics, so it's a big fuck you and die in a fire to Mazda from me.
