you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

Does quite a lot of driving (near 40k/year) and likes the Diesel (stinky shit) economy esp while towing etc so wishes to stick with such.

Cheapest diesel CX is a 40K car on road.

In that price bracket she could look at a diesel Tiguan or Skoda Yeti

Good luck getting a young chick to pick a Yeti - they seem to be good cars but they have that weird Eastern Euro styling feel. :p

I figured you wouldn't appreciate it unless he was in his old MX5 or something anyways.

Yep Mondeo will be a bit big.
Being a bit Anti SUV to me it seems the 2011+ Diesel Focus is the goods at the moment. Seems to smash everything else comparably priced.
Getting to believe space wise it's still probably similar to a Tiguan but or whatever probably would involve first hand. Stupid people and their mind sets.

Finding a few issues/sooks about diesel forresters, maybe not quite as good as though?

This months Wheels tests all the SUVs (10 of them)

CX5, Tiguan, Yeti, Kuga are the top 4

My Mrs drove one, said it felt a fucking weird driving position and was really small, CX5's are not big at all.

Also they did an SUV test in the Sunday paper here a few weeks back - CX5 got a caning, Kia Sportage won it, Tiguan was average.

i wonder what they didn't like about the CX5?

you'd be hard pressed to find one negative net review

Yep they look like a Mazda3, made uglier and then put on high shocks and springs, they didn't rate the ride of it, the engine was uninspiring and in general it was just bland and not as good as it should be considering whats come before and what it was up against. Same story for the Tiguan although a mate has one and I reckon it's quite nice (it's the fastest one though) :p but they are farking small!

Cant beleive i'm saying but I reckon the Sportage is the pick of the bunch. Drove one a few months ago with the nopics, blown away by how nice a place it was to be and went well for an auto petrol NA. Diesel apparently makes 130kw and near 400nm, more than my fucking navara!
