Thanks mate. Pink slip will be no drama, not worried about the restrictions. I was looking on the rta website it it was adamant their were no modifications allowed. I'm assuming i need to become a member of a car club too?

Been there done that, hunt a round and go join a club that is listed to have historic regoed cars, its up to the club president to allow the car on the historic scheme(As for mods they must/"should" only have mods from its release period/era) ,if it wont pass in one club try another,Ive seen all sorts, club regoed.Originally posted by JabberWocky View PostThanks mate. You only need a pink slip every year to keep it regoed but you are very restricted for driving it.
you are supposedly allowed a 10klm radius from home for testing/tuning.(take full advantage of that) plus club runs/shows etc....The club presidents will fill you in on the details.but its way cheaper than full rego,I think I was paying $180 all up per year a couple years ago.
New laws are coming in for NSW where you get given a log book and you fill it in before you drive the car,"apparently" if your caught by the fuZZ without it being logged they can/will remove you from the scheme
Its currently being trialed in Victoria

As previously suggested join the SDC and this car will be happily signed off. The mods you have are minor and period friendly. As you'd be a new member you be asked to get a pink slip but that's it.Originally posted by MZ21 View PostClub membership will be between $40-$60/year. Plus RTA rego + plate was ~ $90, then $54/year (that includes green slip!)RB26......................Again

What state are you in, the log book already exists in NSW and has done since I did my first historic rego about 4-5yrs ago? Its $54 a year in NSW which is $36 for the green slip and $18 for RTA admin. we are allowed 15kms a month in maintenance km's and you can drive it anytime there is an event on the club calendar including monthly meetings.Originally posted by gbanger View Post...The club presidents will fill you in on the details.but its way cheaper than full rego,I think I was paying $180 all up per year a couple years ago.

So what modifications are fine under a historic rego in NSW? I know it's all pretty strict.
I'm thinking about getting my AE86 on Historic Rego when I finish it sometime this year. By then it'll be resprayed in it's non-original colour, the interior will be partly stripped out, will have a stroked Blacktop 4AGE with ram tubes, exhaust and coilovers.
Am I right in thinking this is all too much, or as mentioned above, is it up to the club who signs it off?

Fuck I'm old ...Originally posted by Deceiver View PostYep, the first ones were '83, so this year are eligible.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
