i think the major issue you need to consider is that your inactivity has caused damages beyond the seat...

when i fuck up like this i usually cop a bit on the chin. not saying how much you have to do as its your decision but if the cars more fucked now than it was when it was dropped off with you id be covering costs for another workshop to bring it back to the same state (remove all rust that started from you doing a bit then leaving it, retap threads on the parts that got crud in them, seat dry cleaning, radiator support repair e.t.c.)

Ive met Bevan quite a few times. He is perhaps nicer than me, which probably hasnt helped him here, but hes not a gutless idiot. I doubt he would be agreeing to things on his car that he didnt want done. He just didnt want to call the guy out as being a liar until he had his car back, which is fair enough I think.

this is exactly what happens in every case that someone negotiates a reduced rate for work done on their car...it never gets touched.

I know how you feel buddy. 16 months, $5k and my transmission are still with the useless fuck engine builder over here in WA.
Stupid c*nt came highly recommended in Valiant circles but all I have got is the run around and lie after lie.
