I think its a damn good thing that reasonably competitive teams are picking up the new manufacturers cars hopefully theyll be up there.

What? It's a new formula.Originally posted by TJ View Postand to people wanting to come back now there is different makers, get the fuck out. Its the same fucking teams, same cars, with different badging. Big change....
I don't understand the "I'm the biggest V8SC fan in Ipswich, get the fuck out noob cunts" WTF? If a few changes stir interest from a few race fans who lost interest long ago, isn't that a good thing? The most dangerous risk of all - the risk of spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later. - Randy Komisar.

Some of these 'fans' were no doubt the same pricks that prompted Richo's Bathurst win 'Pack of Arseholes' speech.
Though the V8SC racing is close (qualifying anyway) I lost interest in the category because I don't identify with the product and the difrrence between the top ten and the back markers are huge....just look at the Kelly Crate Murphy drives. I prefer the close racing and different make in Touring Car Masters, GT's and especially the Improved Production series.
Also like the racing in Aussie Racing Cars & Porsche cup especially now there is Richrds, Gaunt, Baird etc running at the front.

In semi-related news, Tony Cochrane is stepping down as CEO at the end of the year......but will remain as an “external senior advisor to the V8 Supercars Board”.

Those fans may have had a point champ . The GT-R's were, as the designation implies, GT cars with R racing enhancements like 4 wheel drive, 6 speed boxes and heavily turbocharged high performance 4 valve engines. They were racing against family sedans. As history shows they fucked the local Touring Car category comprehensively. Fortunately for people who like local V8 tin top racing CAMS, culpable and complicit in the murder of Group A, stepped back and let sage heads create what has become the most succesful and enduring Touring Car series ever, anywhere.

Haha WTF? I usually cannot be bothered dignifying this sort of rubbish but that was arrant, ignorant nonsense. Have a look below; 6 tenths of a second separates 28 V8X's at their last outing. I havent posted the times but in the TCM qualifying the gap was 13 seconds..... I prefer the close racing and different make in Touring Car Masters, GT's and especially the Improved Production series.

family sedans = BMW m3, Ford Sierra Cosworth?
because RS500s were not heavily turbocharged high performance 4 valves?

I was working @ Shell HQ no 1 Spring Street during the Group A years and Tom Smith, Ross Brodie, Channel 7 and a few other parties were involved in adopting a formula that the Aussie racing fan wanted. Shell threw millions of $ in support of DJR
Holden, Ford, Alfa, BMW and Nissan were all reading from the same Group A handbook.....Nissan obviously read it better.
I suppose you could say the same about the E30 M3 2.5 which was the only other car to win a round that year @ Lakeside....they were not allowed to run full euro spec wing package.
As for the current racing 28 cars are seperated by a few tenths during qualifying and it is effectively eroded by the end of the first lap.
I think the great Frank Gardner summed up V8SC well when he stated it was constipated.
