After the AFP traffic squad were actually trained how the drive the thing they had no issues with the replacement V70R. They were all set to replace the entire traffic squad fleet with the Volvos except the cost and negative publicity over the police driving expensive luxury cars. They also looked at Saabs, FWD only put them off although they liked alot of things about them. The ACT mounted branch kept their XC70 for a fair while as well with no issues, not sure which section it ended up when the mounties were disbanded for awhile though.
Irony of people complaining about the cost of the promocars, the AFP has bought a heap of 200series Land Cruisers, as has most other states, and a couple of dozen BMW X5 protections, and a few rather special 200 series, and no one has peeped. From what I've been told, unsure on accuracy, the X5s would cost as much or more then the Panamera.

They'd rather an SS/Xr6t as they actually make money having them...
And be a hell of alot quicker than the V6 Turdamera, even an EcoLpi Falcon would give it a run...

I thought they only got a few months out of the second one before binning it as well.. They were a good looking and well performing car in good hands.

Yeah, I reckon you'll see it around & being used ... the cops get handed these promo cars all the time, and they usually get used; they had more than one WRX back in the days when they were juuust becoming popular, and the V70R's based around Cooma during ski-season were freebies but being very publically used.

I think they actually bought the Cordia Turbos themselves ...

AFP near my place (Gillard's holiday house) have Territory Turbos. Gillard still has the old model armoured Caprice .

                            This can only end badly.
Much like the AFP in Canberra, when they put the Volvo into the wall in a so called high speed pursuit.

This. Manufacturers do them virtually at cost (imagine how little that is) as they bump up their sales figure. Also no sales tax/GST as essential/emergency services.
